I know all rules but I find always a big problem in practice specialy in oral communication and that make me nervous and crazy ... thank you

have a friend from USA y he said to me that HOW COME is an old expression he used to use when he was young, if I mention this in a conversation would sound weird instead fashion or modern, because almost any young person use it or know it at least

The first time I heard the word ain't was in the song "If I Ain't Got You" by Alicia Keys. I looked it up on Google translate and I got the definition there.

Once, I read on a business email an businesswoman, I suppose complaining about her unanwered previous emails, saying: "Is the third time around the charm". At that time I Googled for this expression without success. Since them, this whachamacallit has not appears in any other text that I read or listening. Is it some oldfashion way of showing a frustration?

I would like to suggest an expression, which is "rough patch", which means something like "tough week". So here is an example: If someone asks you "how are you doing today?", the answer might be "Oh man, I am going through a rough patch".

I've learned that is not polite we answer "I'm fine" after a "How are you" question. "I'm doing great, thanks" is most appropriate.
