I have been using sure fit designs for about 34 yrs.I first purchased the whole kit , that I still have, from a display held at the RSL club in Dubbo NSW Australia I have used and used and used them and still find they are the only patterns that actually fit myself or any clients I have sewn for . For many years now I have been a curtain maker but lately as Im slowing my trade down a bit I'm really enjoying sewing some garments again and out comes the trusty, VERY well used boxes with my sure fit patterns . .EXCELLENT PRODUCT

@Sue Grisinger - oh wow! I definitely remember the RSL club in Dubbo. Hard to believe it was 34 years ago! The older one gets, the faster time seems to evaporate. Hi Glenda, thanks for sharing your immense knowledge and skill. Some advice please …I’m making reasonable headway with drafting my sloper but…for some reason (and I’m sure I’m following all the steps) my bodice and skirt darts don’t line up when I match the pattern pieces. It’s probably only an eighth of an inch or less, but I know they should match perfectly if I’m doing it right. I corrected it “manually” but I want to do it the right way. Any suggestions would be much appreciated 💕

Great. Been waiting for this. So, Do I draw the 5/8 cutting line before or after perfecting the dart? I am confused about that.

Sue M - Draw the 5/8" line before, but once the dart is folded in place, you will be drawing it again next to the seam line that you draw. Make sure to watch the perfecting the dart video.

I have one side that is a D cup and the other side is a C cup due to cancer surgery. Would I draw 2 diffenent darts or use the D for both sides of the bodice blueprint please? Thank you for taking the time for the question!

alerie Bishop - you will most likely want to consider drawing an asymmetrical pattern with one side being different than the other...that meets in the middle!

Well done Glenda. Exactly what I had to do on my bodice for a lower apex. Now, I also much prefer a 2 inch distance from my apex to the dart tip with my D cup. Can you explain how I would be draw the side seam and “true it” if I am moving the dart not just down but out ?.... Thanks Maureen

Maureen Hopper - first, I don't know why you'd be moving the dart 'out'. Marking the dart tip 2" away from the apex doesn't affect the side seam and where you've drawn it. The perfecting 'truing' process is still the same as the side seam shouldn't change...and even if it does, the process is still the same. See this video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mNOipZmGrtipZas.html

I'm new to the idea of Sure-Fit Designs. Did I understand correctly that you used the bust measurement to identify the points for the center neck and the shoulder? If so, I don't understand the relationship.

If you are making a bodice for someone whose shoulders are asymmetrical, so that one apex is an inch lower than the other, would you make each bust dart point to its respective apex or would you keep them horizontally even? Which way would be more obviously off kilter? Or would you perhaps remove them both and add darts elsewhere?

@carolyn9693 - I would likely move the darts to the shoulder seam or to the lower side seam. That way the asymmetry wouldn't look quite so obvious.

Zanap Williams - it can be purchased, but it is usually purchased by someone who already has the Dress Kit and lost this specific template (as it comes in the Dress Kit). The Adjust-A-Bust template is designed specifically for use with the Sure-Fit Designs patterns and not specifically to be used with commercial patterns.
