I think too, Baldwin is such a popular area to ride and the sxs industry has blown up so big, you got vacationers buying up property that absolutely despise all sxs traffic, most likely how you got turned in, just like all the high rollers buying up all the property around silver lake sand dunes, then complaining about the noise, being well aware of the noise before hand. Keep up the killer content, props for you guys taking one for the team!!

Don’t ever talk to cops. Let them investigate, ticket and prove that what they saw on video wasn’t a scripted, produced segment for a KZfaq show done on a closed course. When a cop asks you anything, stfu.

This is a prime example why Lake county will never see a dime of my money again. They (cops) even had shirts made one time stating "have a good time, Leave with a fine". I would never recommend anyone ride there.

It's a shame we have Dobbers in our midst! Been fined myself here in Australia in the forest. Its pretty much private land or two 4x4 parks for our entire state here in QLD We AU SxS riders are envious of you guys being aloud to ride the trails. Keep up the great work! Love your channel!

Great podcast guys. You guys handled this well. Keep your head up and move on! I feel you've done a good job informing us on a variety of regulations and rules. I'm sure many of us will think more about our actions now thanks to your informative video. You guys are all great advocates and ambassadors of our sport. The passion you all have is evident and I'm sure none of your "wrong doing" was intentional. I don't feel any of you would ever do anything to harm our sport intentionally. Rock on!! @@hoss1003 ya, that’s obvious I’d think. They are informing us of the laws in their particular state, which in this case is Michigan. I’m based in Canada and a lot of our laws vary from area to area also. The message here is clear though, laws are in place for various reasons and they will be enforced as the enforcers see fit. Maybe not always enforced and maybe not enforced on everyone but there’s always a few unlucky people who get nabbed. In theory though, a lot of the laws make sense on papers but not in practice. This applies in most areas of law. Is it good to stay in marked trails, generally speaking yes. Is it good to tread lightly, generally speaking yes. Can a few bad apples spoil it for the bunch, generally speaking yes. Are the majority of us respectful for the most part, generally speaking yes. Do I believe they should be using this channel as an example, I don’t really feel so. I do believe there is many larger offenders out there that have a blind eye turned on them. The laws and enforcement of laws is not without bias. Maybe the Dirt Dudes were just unlucky enough to upset the wrong person in this case. Regardless, kudos on an excellent podcast guys. If it’s stirs up some positive conversation then it’s a win and I feel you guys are good ambassadors for our sport.

Wandered off the trail in saint helen in a off limit area we had no idea 160.00 dollars for three of us.We were the only ones riding and the DNR followed the tracks.Sometimes you learn the hard way.Keep up the great videos.Love your channel.

I think they’re going to start cracking down on things like that more and more because the sxs industry has become so big that trails are being beat up a lot more than in the past and they don’t want non orv trails roughed up. I hope they don’t crack down too much and shut orv’s down from coming into town like they did years back, that liked to killed this town. I cringe when I see the select few that are being idiots in town and speeding, driving on sidewalks etc because I know that’s not going to help keep things going in a position direction.

Government over reach at its finest. I understand some of the safety and conservation aspects but its really gotten out of hand to the point you almost can't go "out in the woods" without accidentally violating the law. Apparently the high taxes and fees that we pay to play aren't enough.

Simple solution. Keep ripping “trails” just don’t say where and edit out the stop signs when you’re doing donuts! I rode a little over 100 miles last weekend in an undisclosed location 😂 and now I’m thinking it was all illegal and I should probably be in prison! 🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️

I would like to say, the "driving to fast for conditions" ticket is your accident ticket. No matter the speed, 5mph or 50mph, if you get in an accident thats the ticket you get. I dont think they wrote that based on the footage of your trail speed. My 2 cents tho🤷♂️

All videos not filmed on private land will be filmed in Mexico from now on. I hate how the definition of carless and reckless driving laws are written, because it's all up to the officers opinion and not fact.

Need to check the dnr and usfs sites before your rides for new closures. Dnr has a bunch of dnr roads and route segments closed right now temporarily, same for the usfs. The forest roads aren't really worth screwing with as it stands due to the issues like you guys had and the rules. Only thing they are good for is connectors.

I was told when I 1st got my SXS here in VA that the federal land requirements were serious. 1 foot off the trail and you can be cited. Plus with the private land considerations, best to stay on major trails (HMT, Spearhead etc) or private off road parks. Those charges are BS IMO and you are handling it better than I believe I would. Sorry guys.

I got a reckless driving two weeks ago on a forest road in baldwin. I’m street legal and was doing 37 in a 55 when I came around a blind corner and had a DNR truck coming at me in the MIDDLE of the road so I had to swerve to miss him so he gave me a reckless. Now, I was not on the far right of the road but I wasn’t in the middle of the road either. At no time was I out of control of my ride but if you jerk the wheel like I did on a dirt road it’s going to look like I am. Had he not been in the middle of the road I would have been fine. He should right himself the same ticket because he jerked his wheel and did the same thing.

Owning up to your mistakes is awesome, however as a retired law enforcement officer, getting stroked that many tickets is ridiculous. I might add that the first three years of my career were spent as a DNR officer in Florida. I never hit anyone that hard even issuing natural resource violations. Even though you were cut some breaks, both officers missed a great opportunity to educate the public. They could have issued minor citations and actually came on your podcast and helped educate off roaders. Sometimes I am embarrassed of my profession.

We have protected areas here in maine forestry protected you get caught riding them they throw the book at you, It's too bad they pushed this situation and not left it as a learning situation ! Plus they prob seen how well liked the DD are. Maybe they should view this video and see your giving the gift of knowledge of don't do that. Keep it going guys love your content.

It’s lake county they are strict. Got a ticket for going up a hill on a snowmobile and came on the back side of the sign that said stay off. Multiple tracks btw and the judge said ur lucky I don’t make u re-seed the hill. Lol I’ll pay the ticket instead

@@dirtdudes I think what you are experiencing is the offroad community (dirt bikers,and atv riders,jeepers) being tired of the sxs guys tearing up all of the riding areas. For example hitting hills in 2wd multiple times instead of using 4wd to minimize trail damage. Promotion of drinking and driving. Leaving trash on the trails, and generally just making riding atv or dirt bikes more dangerous. I am not saying you guys do any of this, but being in multiple niches of the offroad community myself the general outlook on sxs drivers is not in a positive light. I suspect many sxs ride groups will experience more and more kickback like what happened to your crew in the future starting with you tubers. If you can do your part in promoting proper trail etiquette like no drinking and driving, picking up trash, not damaging trails in 2wd,etc....it will go a long way towards shedding a positive light on this niche of the offroad community. If not I figure the sxs fad will be slowly and methodically be dismantled until it is no more outside of dedicated ride parks.

Another cry baby whining bc his machine can't make it up a trail. Have you ever heard of erosion? There are also many atvs that are only 2wd so they shouldn't try any hill climbs/trails more than once? Drinking and driving/riding happened just as much before sxs were around. You wanna blame the whole sxs community for the actions of a few people that would be doing the same thing on any kind of machine just bc that's what a big majority of people ride now.

@@jessesowards9555 more like the majority of sxs drivers are irresponsible...the responsible are a small,small portion. 2wd sport quads have 20 inch tires, they don't dig out the trails like a 100plus hp machine with 35 inchers does. Never seen a dirt bike guy with a huge cooler on his fender..besides a dirt bike doesn't weigh what a car does and isn't likely to roll down a hill and hurt an innocent person..Who said I couldn't make it where I want to go? I just push the little 4wd button instead of trenching the trail out for the next guy.Your perspective is interesting though. Try again

I had a similar event in California I got hit by a drunk driver while I was walking I didn't report it on an Sr 5 form they revoked my driver's license for 6 months and for 7 years I had extremely high insurance they treated it as though it was the same as a drunk driving ticket I was sober I don't drink all said and done it cost me a little over $25,000 in 1990. The only good news I wasn't injured other than $$$$$$.

The DNR in Mi like to make it as unenjoyable as possible for orv's and snowmobiles. The law doesn't apply to them either i saw a officer run a stop sign going faster than 25 mph during the 2021 deer season.

I think the bigger thing with the Donuts is people aroudn teh Baldwin trails have been tearing up the roads at the trail crossings doing donuts. And they absolutely don't want you riding off trail.

Damaging your own vehicle results in a fine? That's none of the government's business unless you damaged someone else's vehicle in the incident, and even then if you and the other person worked out a deal then its still none of the government's business. I thought the issue would have been hitting the deer and not contacting fish and game about the deer. Ya'll did nothing wrong. Keep rippin the trails and have fun.

On determining Jake's speed. Find out what training the officer had to determine younwas going too fast. Really your attorney should know this. When I was a Trooper we trained on guess automobiles speed when they passed us by while we sat in the median. We done this to become experts, so when a citation was issued for speeding it was nearly impossible to beat it in court. If they have no training then that should easily been thrown out.

Did they have signs posted with the rules on site? Those maps need to be on site as well it seems to me. Do you have to have a slow vehicle sign on your atv or utv? Doesn't seem very safe to limit the speed of those vehicles so far below a regular vehicle. The whole thing seems like nothing more than a trap. Or it's completely not worth it unless you hunt the area, and it still doesn't make sense because you aren't allowed to take your vehicle off the road to get your game. Just a bunch of bs guys. I would definitely try to fight it in court.

That is such BS!! A friend of mine rents UTVs and never heard boo from him that the renters getting tickets. There is a population there I guarantee don’t know much of any about the laws, yet no known tickets. Sounds to me the cops are trolling the airwaves to write tickets vs actually being out there in nature and catching wrong doers in the moment!! GAIA GPS app has all the maps and a ton more. I use it and it is great. Premium version is $40 per year. Well worth it and covers entire US and more!
