I'd like to suggest, Andy, and what I think I'm really hearing from you, is more of an INTERNSHIP. The "schools" which already exist and what you'd be competing against, can really only provide training in "basics and theory" in an environment which is quite sterile. (Push 'em, push 'em out) An internship would provide REAL WORLD applicability in systems trouble-shooting, repair, customer relations, business administration, marketing analysis, comprehension, and projection. There is within you, I feel, a real and earnest concern and consideration in ensuring that the industry HAS qualified, dependable, and honest representatives, mechanics, and business owners that can keep the ball moving forward. Another consideration could be doing a video course series that you could market through your own existing business and it appears that you'd do quite well doing such a project. (Just my take on this as a former military jet engine mechanic/ inspector and MA of History).

I love the idea! How long would we get to work in the shop with you and would you have any employment leads after completion?

Fantastic idea for individuals who actually want to learn something about the industry. Instead of some bozo who probably doesn't know anything about what he or she is teaching.

Hell yes I would sign up! Count me in. The amount of value you provide to this industry is immense. I feel like I'd learn from the best.

If I could do the course online at my own pace I'd do it. I don't have a lot of spare time but if it meant that I could fix my own garbage and save a few bucks overtime it would be worth it.

Well if I was close to you I just pay you to fix it but unfortunately I just fix my own boat even though it’s under warranty I had my boat less than 3 months tilt and trim breaks I call the dealer and they said it would take three months remember this is the same place I bought the boat and if I had let them have my boat at that point I would have given my boat up for the rest of the summer and half of the fall and I can’t do that I fish year round for everything I can’t afford 2 weeks really. Fortunately i followed the wires and one wire was. Unplugged boat I’ve had old boat talking about rebuilding carbs changing coils changing wire harness lower unit replacement spun prop replacement I’ve been lucky to never have the issue of actually digging into the motor

@yelyab1 I had a pair of 1964 big twin 40HP Evenrudes on a 1964 Chris Craft, My grandfather bought the boat brand new in 1964! In 1980 I inherited that boat after my grandfather passed away, In 1988 I purchased an Evinrude 88 SPL! That boat spent every summer of its life docked in salt water at the jersey shore, Those motors never had any issues and ran perfectly when they were removed! Those old Evinrude’s ran great!

We've done a lot of 250 battles and some 200 battles. When it comes to fuel economy Suzuki has it in our opinion.

We advised him to take it back to this Merc dealer so he could be on the same page with them.

We would always be able to figure some form of exit exam that could be offered online for the individuals the couldn't make the journey

Currently solving some supplier issues with them

Since he was under warranty we encouraged him to take it back to his dealer to have the situation remedied.

Thank you . I have a 185 ( 18' 9" alumicraft Trophy. Not sure what length the Lund was but would be real close to same boat . Mine weighs empty at 1800 lbs and has a 2022 Suzuki 150 on it . I'm in Montana so my low altitude starts at 2300 and goes up to 6400 . Should be at 6000 rpm but loaded for fishing at 3300 ft I only get 5200 rpm with a 21 pitch prop . Have ordered a 19 prop but not sure if I need to raise motor or not ? The deflection plate looks to be even wit the bottom of boat and I'm getting a lot of splash at the transom on plane ? Is prop best place to start ? Is there anything available to help with altitude ? My dealer is warners in Wisconsin so taking to dealer is really not an option and they don't have a prop exchange program .

"Resistance" SHOULD HAVE been learned in 8th grade science class. Students that make good techs started out overhauling bicycles at the age of 8. Were installing badass stereos in vehicles at age 15, and could successfully swap an engine in a Chevy/Ford/Dodge at age 17. Not knocking that young man by any means, seems like a fine young fella.......But let's face it....... He'll make a great insurance salesman or Realtor someday. 👍.
