When I was a kid we moved to Maryvale. It was a very nice middle class neighborhood. Apparently we lived in the Dover but we had a double carport not a garage. Also had a pool. Dad, mom and four kids. We had plenty of room but then again that's when kids used to play outside!

Incredible that he was still taking falls at...well I guess he was about 65 years old here. A legend! Love him.

What did the other two occupants do with a half bath? Did they go into the master bath to shower? That seems to defeat the purpose of having a master.

The standing back flip is impressive......ALL of his stunts were far more impressive than any stunt guys we have today. Just due to the sheer volume of them......I mean, COME ON....THIS GUY WASN'T HUMAN.

The sad part of all this is the "Shannon" is now worth $425,000. Phoenix real estate is absurd.
@suppylarue220
@suppylarue220 8 ай бұрын
it isn't "worth" $425k. that's it's market value. the dollar is worth LESS today. to reconstruct that property would cost way more than $425k. as it was, materials are no longer available, and in addition it would never pass today's codes.

@sunspot42 5 жыл бұрын
I grew up in a John F. Long home built in 1973. The el-cheapola assholes used a hollow core door for an *exterior* door, heading out of the garage to the back yard. It died by 1979 after a bad hailstorm in '78 beat off the paint, and had to be replaced.

Acoustical ceilings? WTF are they? Apparently one of the high quality products used in the Shannon. Buster Keaton was a comic genius.
@ericferguson68
@ericferguson68 5 жыл бұрын
Acoustical ceilings would be the paper/cellulose drop ceiling blocks (I think they could be just glued on as well instead of using the metal framework). This is a cheaper way of finishing than to have plasterers come in. It's advertised as absorbing noise and cutting down on the echo in your home. Today, I think the ceilings are usually down with drywall, the same as the walls (in the USA, anyway).
@boughtbythecross
@boughtbythecross 2 жыл бұрын
Acoustic, or popcorn, ceilings are a lightweight material (until the mid 70s contained asbestos) sprayed onto the ceiling to reduce noise. They look like cottage cheese and were pretty cool at the time but are an eyesore today. Many people have it removed

+Boogster Su Hi Su - I got this message on May 4th, but never got a response to my reply. Said that I would love to have a link to where people could buy it, am still waiting to hear back. Mr. Hall, It appears that you have downloaded clips from Laughsmith Entertainment's copyrighted restoration of THE HOMEOWNER, as well as taken information from my commentary track. As I was the one who found and discovered the film, you could at least give me a mention or credit for this. Love your Phoenix History website BTW. Here is what I found on Laughsmith Entertainment www.imdb.com/company/co0026466/

+Boogster Su Hi Su - You can get the full film on the two DVD disc set called Industrial Strength Keaton, it is readily available on Amazon and other places! It is on Disc two under the Industrial Films section. Really great collection of rare and hard to find Keaton televisions sketches, promo films, archival footage, commercials and the like!

I lived there in the 70s and it was a very nice neighborhood. Sadly gangs moved in and there was a lot of drug activity, it went down hill for many years but I recently viewed the house I used to live in online and they did some very nice upgrades. Looks like they are at least trying to fix up the neighborhood. Amazes me it still has the same kitchen cabinets! They just painted them
