Giant Turd Heh, got to drive my grandfathers tractor, which also convinently had a scoop. I had access to a little creek... you can see where this went, many days building dams, trenches and waterways around the farm, and for the grand finale, watching nature rip it all down (with my assistance) :D

You are lucky where you live, the digging always looks so good. Up here in New England it's always rocks and ledge laced with boulders the size of a 57 Buick lol. Tough on the teeth, buckets, bushings, pins and bearings all day long.

I never knew a pond could be so much trouble. My pond is spring fed, and and in 10 years has never been below the top of the standpipe. In fact the only issue I have ever had, was a dead swan plugged up the standpipe, and caused the pond to over top the dam.

Really fascinating to see this process, thank you! Dredging a pond can be some serious and costly work ... it's a lot easier in the long run to use preventative strategies to avoid the accumulation of bottom muck in your pond. Hydro-raking and mechanical harvesting can keep a pond healthy and beautiful. Watching hydro-raking videos can also be really satisfying to watch xD

From past experiences I have had to go in and cut the tree's off the back side of dams cause they will make the pond or lakes leak. And had really good luck doing that. But I also ground a few stumps to. Which helped to.

It's not a good idea to have trees but if you do and they've been there for yrs. leave them alone. Depending on the soil and type of tree matters also.

Go to an asphalt plant and they will give you for free the -200 grit silt which is a extra byproduct from asphalt production, perfect for bedding ponds , it’s basically fine silt almost clay , I ran a plant for 7 years and we wish we could find someone to take it , it makes awesome pond bedding , put 6” on bottom of anything you want to hold water lol , and it helps PH

That ditch is a nice straight line; obviously I was NOT the operator. With my eyesight and lack of coordination all you would see is a corkscrew! Thanks for the video. Sometimes I wonder why folks don't take out the beaver lodge as well - if you can find it. Of course you need a big machine to do that or some dynamite. Beaver may be beautiful animals but like feral hogs they do a lot of damage.
