Debunking Dental Myths: Water Flossers Vs. Regular Floss With Dr. Gill - Vol. 2
In this video we look at homemade toothpaste, water flossers, fizzy drinks and tooth decay, and what to do about bleeding gums
Many things get banned around, such as dental opinions. Often you hear that people will make their own toothpaste. Is this a sensible idea? Is there any danger to it? And what might be the benefits of making your own toothpaste as opposed to buying that pre-prepared by, scientists, and learned individuals
In this video, Dr Gill joins Dr Alison Mace, a dentist, to dispel more of the dental myths

Thank you! Such great information. Question: teeth bleaching/whitening strips , do they erode enamel and if so are teeth caps an alternate solution to enamel loss?

Thank you! I'll just repeat my question from last time, if you don't mind! Is there anything I can do to whiten my teeth that a) isn't bad for me, and, b) doesn't require me to give up my coffee?

I've heard that some home-brew toothpastes include hydrogen peroxide. I think that acts as a foaming agent, as well as a weak bleach.

My health visitor team are absolutely adamant that children should use adult toothpaste, not children's toothpaste. They even say that there is no such thing as "Adult" toothpaste but it's just "Toothpaste" - as long as it doesn't have extra stuff in it, just basic toothpaste is correct to use for even very small children. I have followed their advice but I'm really really worried my daughter will end up with damaged enamel due to too much fluoride as an adult.

QUESTION (for a maybe part 3): I brush regularly with an electric toothbrush, use mouthwash, floss and once a week apply a high fluoride toothpaste. I still have relatively bad teeth. Could this be due to "bad genetics"

Try nano hydroxyapatite toothpaste instead. Apgard makes a good product, its more expensive than regular toothpaste but it amazing. The nano stuff remineralizes the teeth (makes them stronger as well as whiter).

When I try to find answers myself they come back mixed so I'm asking here - is there a benefit to toothpaste being mint flavour? Is it okay to use other flavours or is mint better?

Flavour seems to be just that. A flavour rather than an active ingredibt

I lost a tooth because of a water pick. I shot a jet of water between the root of the second lower molar on the right side . Created a pocket of infection and had to have the tool pulled. They suck

flouridde studies are biased by toothpaste companies. if. flouridde I prevented the tooth decay, the flouridde in your drinking is water would be sufficient. im not saying you should make your own toothpaste but flouridde keeps getting proven that the benefits aren't great. kind of like using bleach, sure it kills germs but at what cost?
