I also love garlic and onion in my food. My mother in law taught me to chop up onion and garlic in one of those small food choppers add a little salt and keep it in the fridge for a few days, just take it from there as you go. Makes my life easier since we add it to pretty much every meal.

We had 6 kids when I was growing up. My mom also made meals instead of cereal, pop tarts or even sandwiches for meals. Filled us up at mealtime because if did not we would be back 2 hours later hungry. Cheaper and better to just fill us up at mealtime. We lived on a farm and all worked outside or with housework so burned those calories!

I think people forget that “easy” is a relative term. Boxed foods might be easier for some, while whipping up a quick meal is easier for others. When you’ve got a good amount of simple recipes mastered, it doesn’t really take long to pull them together. Thanks for sharing!

So beautiful to see how gracefully and peacefully you go through your day. With a big family your day truly does revolve around the kitchen. How do you fit in homeschool? Also, you really get me hook, line, and sinker. I kept trying to find out why your husband and sisters think your crazy… bc you don’t drink coffee 😆

I’m a devoted viewer; your homemaking skills are inspiring. I know you’re pressed for time, but more specific details for your recipes would really be helpful for me. For example, I’m not really certain how to specifically recreate your meatloaf or the ground beef with vegetables and cheese sauce. (I admit, I’m a bit of a novice cook.) Thanks for all your fantastic videos!

I still always order biscuits & gravy if we ever go out to eat somewhere, which is rare, but it's the ultimate comfort food breakfast, for sure. Nothing beats homemade though, and your's looked so scrumptious! I've got a bunch of ground venison thawed, and wasn't quite sure what I was gonna make today. Maybe meatloaf is calling my name! 😊 Happy Friday!

You are so right about making a meal being easier in some ways than convenience foods with a big family, and mine isn't nearly as big as yours. It also creates a lot less trash to cook from scratch. I live in the country and don't have trash service so we have to take ours to the dump ourselves. It makes you really notice how much useless packaging comes with the food. The boxes and inner bags for cereal and pop tarts, etc... would add up in my trash super fast. The wrapper from a pound of sausage, not so much. The flour bag holds several meals worth of flour in one bag. Same for the milk. Using produce has no trash since any scraps go to my chickens.

I am from Australia and we don’t have biscuits and gravy here so I find it interesting. We have biscuits but you guys call them cookies. We also have scones which I thinking is your biscuit. We normally have scones, sweet with jam an cream or you can make savoury ones too with veggies but I have never seen anything that resembles biscuit an gravy but do see it a lot on American utube. I might try and make it and see what we think 😊

I'm no where near as "homemade" as you are, but eating at home and like today for lunch we did bean burrito wraps. I made them not the frozen kind. And yep I know it's A LOT healthier then the alternative of eating out and convenience food. I do convenience food sometimes for a "treat" but it's not their everyday!
