Straight 6 is my favorite engine ever the sound the torque is unreal. I used to walk away from pick ups on the hills of northern pa hauling firewoods. It felt good until we leveled off and then the others would fly past me lmao! Love the sling shot true craftsmanship in building that machine and the distinctive sound of that inline! My gut says it's over carbed. At least it's got a bad tune, shouldn't fall on it's face like that.

Yeah, it was off this run. High 9's in the eighth mile is low 15's in the quarter (roughly). There's a later video, same dragster, showing it getting off the line much better. First run, ran low 14's in the quarter, at 98 mph. Second run, low 12's. Last run, got into the high 11's, at 113 mph. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aZ2jo5iHvayxgnk.html

That's actually really slow. 9.74 in the 1/8th would be about a low 15 in the 1/4

Chevy or ford 6

The voiceover said a Chevy, plus the plugs are on the right of the engine looking forward. I'm thinking it's a 235 or 261 as the distributor is midway along the engine. The 250 & 292 are placed much further towards the front.

@@loatfield I believe that was a V6
@loatfield3 жыл бұрын
@@BadBiden The 302 was a GMC Straight 6. "The 301.6-cubic-inch (4.9 L) GMC inline six was produced from 1952 to 1960, when it was replaced by the V6. It has a square bore/stroke ratio of 4 by 4 inches (101.6 mm × 101.6 mm). This is the largest raised-deck engine. It was originally designed for the GMC military M135 and M211. It was used in military 21⁄2-ton trucks with the Hydramatic transmission; however, the engine was a sealed engine for snorkel/submersion use, had an electric fuel pump, and other features such as a deep sump oil pan. From 1952 to 1959, GMC manufactured the civilian 302 engine, which was not sealed, had a mechanical fuel pump, and used a "standard" oil pan. Power listed in 1959-160 HP @ 3600 rpm; torque 268 lbs ft @ 1600 rpm. This engine was popular with hotrod enthusiasts because it delivered tremendous power for an inline six engine at the time (although now obsolete), is built with a heavy cast block, and can take quite a bit of abuse."

You can tell it was a chevy 6 on how it stalled at the line and ran like shit down the track.
