We were lucky enough to get a tea time for afternoon tea at the Dining Room and enjoyed the amazing gardens. In this video I share our experience at tea and exploring the gardens - and I hope it can be helpful if you're planning your own trip to Victoria!

It all began with one woman’s vision and passion. With a former limestone quarry for her backyard, Jennie Butchart envisioned landscaping a sunken garden in its place, transforming the property for her family-and visitors-for generations to come.

I love visiting gardens and this would be one I would love to enjoy. I love how it’s designed. And omg those tea towers are delightful! I love how it’s setup. What a great way to spend an afternoon!

It was a great set up and you could easily spend a few hours there exploring. The tea towers were awesome!

Wow, these gardens are sooo beautiful! Amazing what impact one person’s vision can have..such a cool story behind these gardens, thanks for sharing that. Everything at tea time looked delicious and so well presented 🥰💕

It was a great tea experience. We really enjoyed the gardens too - it was so peaceful and nice to go for a walk after that food!

Absolutely loved this video. My wife and I visited Butchart Gardens as an cruise ship excursion. We were on an Alaska cruise on the Celebrity Solstice a few years ago, was also our first cruise. The last stop was at Victoria, before heading back to Seattle. The excursion was to a butterfly garden before heading to Butchart Gardens. Since the ship was late arriving in port and some custom issues. Then, we had a bus issue at the butterfly garden, so we didn’t get to Butchart Gardens until about sunset. Obviously, not the best time to start a garden tour. Since I take gardening very seriously, my backyard looks like a resort in the summer, I was very, very disappointed. So, your video was the first time that I have really seen the gardens the way I would have preferred. Thanks for sharing. Your presentation is excellent! Thanks.

Thank you! An Alaskan cruise is an itinerary I'd love to do one day. Victoria is a beautiful city it's too bad you had so many issues getting in that it impacted your day. The gardens are so beautiful, and even on the overcast day we had, it was still super pretty there.

What a beautiful day at Buchart gardens! It’s been too long since we had afternoon tea, I love that you guys dived straight into the scones first! 😋 I’m always straight to the cucumber sandwiches to start, then scones with tea, then mini cakes and champagne to top it all off! Dessert wine sounds lovely too 🍷 Love a tranquil Japanese garden, they’re so perfectly manicured 🪴

The Japanese garden was so peaceful!! I loved the afternoon tea, but there really was way too much food. All of it was so good though - I think the scone was my favourite part!

What a beautiful garden, very well maintained, I would come there every weekend. Afternoon tea seems to be a high tea with all the eatables.

Omg, this looks so amazing! The gardens are gorgeous and I so love fancy afternoon teas! At first, I was like why is it so expensive, but I definitely understand now. Looks worth it for all the unique flavors you get to try.

Yes it was definitely worth it in the end, but not something we would do all the time. It was a nice treat to round out our experience there.

I remember visiting Butchart Gardens when I visited Vancouver. Such a beautiful place but sadly weren't able to do the afternoon tea. But the gardens are beautiful. I enjoyed walking out there. Thank you for sharing.

Oh my gosh! This day looks so idillic and is right up my alley haha. Wow - 55 acres of land. That’s amazing! It’s so stunning and so well kept. Love that some of the teas are made from the gardens too. I’ve never seen alcohol paired with the tea and food like that, what a cool experience guys!

55 acres, that's a whole lot! One woman's vision, hollaa! 😁 Yummm, English trifle! You had us at "scone and accompanying alcohol"! Wayne likes the look of that sausage roll! April agrees, dessert is the best course! So cool, the gardens on the old tennis courts! Favorite flower at 10:17 😍

From a rock quarry to this 😍 wow, so incredible! We haven't had an afternoon tea experience like this before, but after watching this, I think we need to try it 😁 of course I would love getting dessert first! That is so cool that the tea is grown in the gardens. Wait ..there is a whole plate of desserts 😍 ok we definitely need to do this!

Haha yes there was SO. MUCH. FOOD. I think we could have easily split 1 tower, but that's a "per person" amount apparently. It was a great garden to explore too so we could walk off all the food ;)

Butchart Gardens has been on my list foreevverrr now! I still need to make it out to Victoria. You made me want to go there even more! I didn't realize that you could also have afternoon tea there. Now that's on my list, too!

We were never really planning to go to BC, but because of the pandemic it just worked out for us to go - and we are so glad because we LOVED it there. I would definitely recommend the afternoon tea!

I have never had British style afternoon tea before ( excluding my friend's bridal shower lol ), would love to try one day! It looks like a calorie bomb, I am dieting currently and it pains me greatly to see such delicious food with some champagne! The botanical gardens are looking great as well!

How long would you recommend for the gardens and the tea? We are short for time the day we are going since we are only planning on 2 hours due to the tour bus schedule, but may be able to stretch it to 3 hours.

The tea on it's own took over an hour, so I'd recommend at least 3 hours - I think we were there for about 4 hours.

Thanks so much we actually stayed in 2 different hotels the 1st night we stayed at the Z hotel and the 2nd night I think we stayed at the Marriott

Summer time is the most popular time to go, but personally I liked when we went at the beginning of September. It wasn't as busy and we had perfect weather.

I think August would be a great time. You can fly to Victoria International Airport.
