Learn Spanish: What were you doing? I was listening to music: Learn to express lasting, past actions

Learn Spanish by building sentences using very common, useful, grammatical structures. In this lesson you will learn to express past actions that last. For example, in English you would ask "What were you doing when I called? I think I was listening to music and that is why I did not hear my phone." Do you see the "I was listening..."? Well, let me tell you. That same structure, it is just as common in Spanish, and follows a specific pattern that needs the verb ESTAR en pasado imperfecto, plus a gerund. If you do not know how to build the gerund, I will give you a quick review in this video. So, in order to learn this common Spanish grammatical structure, use the pattern I am teaching you in this video. This video will show you many ways to use this pattern, and many gerunds, and the Spanish conjugation of the verb "estar". Encontré tu canal hace 4 años. Después de un viaje a Perú, quería aprender, aunque ya tenía 32 años y no sabia absolutamente nada, ni siguiera los numeros. Gracias a ti y otros maestros en KZfaq, ya tengo un nivel de comprensión adecuada y hace dos años, conocí mi novio quien es de México y no habla el inglés. Si no fuera por el contento excelente KZfaq, no habría aprendido el idioma y no tendria la oportunidad para conocerlo. Sinceramente creo que hay recursos suficientes (y buenos) en KZfaq para dominar el idioma, con un poco de efuerzo diario, obviamente. Claro cometo errores, pero el punto es conversar y conocer hablantes nativos, no ser un libro de gramática, y eso lo hago, bastante

It's interesting; I've been using Pimsleur; and it's different in that there is NO Grammar. You just learn things as a baby learned them; hearing them in context. But it's nice now to go back and learn some bits of grammar afterwards. With pimsleur, you just get a sense of what 'sounds right' or not; without any grammatical rules. It's like, i knew what the endings were for comer and pensar, but only because they sounded right. Not with any rules in mind. I think the best of all is to use both systems... but i do believe that grammar is NOT necessary to learn language. Do i know any grammar rules for english, which i use nonstop for my whole life? No. No idea. I took the classes in school, but i don't think i remember any of it. I just speak it all the time. Also i grew up listening to the BBC radio, where their english is Very Good!
