There are two kinds of artists in the Critter community. Those who draw nott as an adorable, anime, goblin, girl. And those that draw her like Sam painted himself green and put on a wig.

The way Sam played Nott was great for a bunch of reasons but I especially like how he always kinda fought back against attempts (good-natured as they were) by the other party members to infantalize her. Claiming the parent/child relationship she had with Caleb was correct but she was the parent rather than the child. Sticking with Nott's understandable fear of the water even while everyone was assuming it was just a funny little jokey quirk Sam was doing and trying to come up with ways to fix it. Refusing to be talked down to on multiple occasions. The rest of the Nein might have thought Nott was just a cute kid goblin on the run from her clan looking for a better life but Sam knew she was an adult woman with a husband and kid of her own the whole time and, while he couldn't tell them that, he wasn't about to let them treat Nott like the group's baby sister.

That whole beginning conversation has so much more weight with what we know now.

I love comfortable everyone is with one another. In many other situations, the goblin would be left behind or kicked overboard in a heartbeat. Here, not only are they try to include Nott, but they also try to convince her instead of just force her to come along. *sniff* Such a pure friend-family... I want them to have moments like this all the time... 😂

this comes full circle when later there is a scene with caduceus talking to plants, an imaginary buttonbeard walking around and caleb has a octopus around his head. edit: btw good video, was there another channel or something with more of them? because i kind of remenber seeing something in this style before. either way, hoping to see more of them in the future

I read it as Bottom Beard. Boy did i imagine some disturbing things...

I dont know about all of you, but the idea of a pirate with a beard made of endless buttons strung togethor. . . That sounds like one crazy dude I dont want to mess with. Meticulously takes the buttons off all his victims bodies (Even the spares), than strings them together for his beard . . . All sorts, metal ones, small ones, bone ones, large dinner plate buttons. . . all sorts. Black beard set his beard on fire to scare his foes, Button beard just wears buttons cause he wants to, and he will get his buttons from you no matter what. . . . . .

Why does everyone make Nott look so pretty? She is a goblin, and described as hideous. It wouldn't be much of a punishment to make her a cute little anime girl. The way everyone draws her, she's IMPROVED from how she looked as Veth.
