When we were on the NC500 at Castle Sinclair, we came across thousands of those stone stacks that people had balanced stones one on top of the other. We later visited Dunstonborough Castle and on the way built a couple of virgin stone towers on the walk along the sea from Craster ourselves. A year later we did the same walk again and there were hundreds of stone stacks. Trend setters or what lol. My work colleague Fred Hardy married Chris Rea's sister, I don't think it was on the beach though. The family is famous for ice cream making as well as Chris. The steel river he sang about was the River Tees. I personally worked in the Steel works for 35 years, my brother for 44 years.

We are thinking about going to the Northumberland area next week, we are busy doing a few wee jobs in our van just now, new lights with USB points, fix a broken latch on overhead cupboard and put some insulation in the doors. Andy, well done for sorting the electric table, I think our electric bed is a bad connection somewhere, it's finding it that's difficult! We've lost count of the times we've knocked Archie's water bowl over or forgotten to empty it before driving off! These smaller private sites are becoming more popular because the CAMHC sites are ridiculously expensive. What was once reasonably priced is now fast becoming an expensive luxury. Nice beach & great to see the castle. We have stopped at a CL site at Holly tree cottage, Gunthwaite top farm, Denby on route to Scotland in April, a lovely cosy site with terrific views.

Keep your tool box handy for the rest of your motorhome lives just like the rest of us

Walkworth Castle is a castle you should have visited (inside). Very impressive keep, with cellars, floors above etc. One of the best and dog friendly. I'd have thought, with your KZfaq channel, it woukd be worth your whikse paying for family membership of both English Heritage AND the National Trust. It might be an expense (that you can set against incone from your channel) but it would allow you free entry to Walkworth & Dunstanburgh castles and Lindisfarne Priory - on your current "tour" - as well as lots of other places. In Yorkshire, for example, Studley Royal & Fountains Abbey near Ripon, Whitby Abbey, Rievaulx Abbey, Mount Grace Priory, Pickering castle (all dog-friendly) as well as Helmsley Castle ... Actually, too many places to list and mamy of them have extensive gardens etc as well as the usual cafes/restaurants etc. You'd get your money back in a few months.

Who'd have thought then 10k makes you that famous that the farmers come out to trim the hedges for you so that you don't scratch your paint work? I'm not famous and I have more scratches than paint on my van. glad you were able to sort the bed, a big motor home gets small pretty quick when there is a double bed in the middle of the lounge.
