Gum tree.....or Gumbo Limbo....can produce food without leaves through its bark. Under the flaky skin you will see the bark has a greenish hue. Has a high salt tolerance as well so very durable when there is a hurricane because of its characteristics.

I love eating corned beef in the Bahamas. For whatever reason, that's one of the few food stuffs that is cheaper in the Bahamas than the states.

That's the tourist tree!! We learned about these guys on our very first trip down to the Caribbean. The red bark on these trees seems to peel off - just like a tourist with a sunburn. 🤣But technically... Gee Cee nailed it down below; they're called the Gumbo Limbo trees.

I live vicariously thru my KZfaq Sailing channels (like your grandmother). I had MV, enjoyed Commercial Cruises, and just being on the water. Loving the SV channels.

My trick for never being caught without insect repellant is to always carry a few OFF! Botanicals Insect Repellent Wipes in my bag. So if you get caught in a surprisingly buggy situation, like a cave in the rain, you will be covered.

You might a thunder shirt or vest for Dixie to help reduce her anxiety in thunderstorms. I have had friends use them and they swear by them.

I am ready for boat life myself - but have a few years before retirement and a bit more finances. Wife is not ready yet - still attached to farm life and worries about not seeing family as often (although we don't see those that have left the next often already). I saw the most insane thing I've ever seen on any sailing KZfaq channel - you putting on makeup has got to be the most insane thing I've ever seen anybody do on a boat. Not to be harsh, but I can see absolutely no point to it at all....seriously, what is the point? My wife has hair down to her butt and never does anything except brush it and she absolutely never wears makeup. Anyway, rant over, keep up the good work.
