I buy this 72 Chrysler New Yorker from an online auction with a complete disregard to good decision making. In part one i complain alot and kind of wash it... enjoy!

gorgeous New Yorker - the 440 was standard on New Yorkers - and yes, this was a popular exterior/interior color combination - the exterior color is called Honey Gold. I remember these cars new in the showroom - my grandfather bought them brand new and traded every two or three years .. I saw many Chryslers with this color combination including Town & Country wagons .. seats look great! .. this one is has the rear window defog option - fan switch on the instrument panel - also the Auto Temp II system - the servo is mounted to the left of the air cleaner and appears to be in pretty good shape! My 71 Town & Country has the same optional air conditioner.. this is a great fuselage styling Chrysler built during the last golden years of this era - be gentle with her - I would NOT recommend power washing that vinyl roof! She’s gorgeous!

Oh my gosh, even full of walnuts, this is a gorgeous car. Although approaching 50 years old, Chrysler’s fuselage body style with its clean lines still looks fresh and modern. Back in the mid 80’s, I had a 1969 Newport which to this day I kick myself in the ass for selling.

I have the same car. Only difference was roof was is green. Car is white with green accents now. Think woody decals but dark metalic green. The center wedge shape in the hood is green too. My Uncle was the second owner. And when he found it in the 90's it was a mint 30k garage car. His buddy bought it and pulled the motor and I ended up with the rest. Drove it for a while with a 360. Fought a leak in the firewall for a long time. Ended up puling the entire interior. I mean everything to the firewall. Been sitting for years now. I think in the spring we are going to start turning it into some sort of sudo race car. Not a bomber. I want it to last more than one race. Would like to do Lemons. But think we will start with Autocross, low level Rally. Something like that. Found a 440 from a rotten motor home that will do I think. The 8 track players are the same as some of the muscle cars and go for decent money on ebay. Lorne.

My dad bought one of these, only it was the Imperial - same color combo on the outside, but had the golf pillow interior. ! What a land yacht ! It was a great car, and the ride was amazing ,with plenty of power ! Honey gold ! The wash was a big improvement !

be gentle with her .. talk to her (yes I talk to my Town & Country no I’m not crazy) .. btw, this New Yorker is the base New Yorker not the Brougham) you can buy the original sales brochures on ebay that explain these details about exactly what was included in the Brougham package - I like the Honey Gold/white vinyl roof combination.. most with Honey Gold paint came with the tan vinyl roof

Just joined your channel , like your sense of humor. Old Chrysler's are great and indestructable. Mine is a Newport, my dad's best friend bought new Chrysler's all his life starting in the 1940's until the 1990's. We will never expirience cars like those ever again ! BTW , Lucas sells a fuel additive that is necessary, if you do not want today's corn gasoline to rust your gas tank !

My dad had a 1969 Chrysler 300. It was the first of the new design. That dash was prob the best dash on a MOPAR. I might add the car had bucket seats with center shift console and it was a four door. It was great when you could order your car to fit your lifestyle instead of the cookie cuttewr cars out now.

Good luck with that Auto Temp II. But on a positive note, you can always save the walnut shells for a BMW intake cleaning., although my shop was nonplussed when I offered to bring my own to save a little money. I prefer the Brougham with its more distinctive interior, but the base New Yorker 4dt hardtop sold only half as many copies, so less common.

You are going to end up loving this car, mark my words. And if you get that nasty wrinkle pressed out of the door, and you take it to car shows, it will be surrounded by gentlemen in their 50's, 60's, and 70's, nodding their heads knowingly, some of whom feel a pang of guilt for yanking the 440 out of one, dropping it into a Plymouth Satellite, and calling it a Road Runner. I have to agree about the avocado interior, I don't think I could climb into that car with a hangover. I bought a 1967 New Yorker on eBay in 2005, had it shipped from Alberta to Eastern Ontario. Needed almost no attention over the years. Makes me smile every time I drive it.

btw, dual exhaust was not a factory option on any New Yorker in 72 - emissions restrictions were beginning to choke the power out of the 440s and it only got worse as the years passed. 1970 was the last year it was offered I believe with the 383 4 barrel and 440 TNT
@adamtrombino1063 жыл бұрын
Dual exhausts were optional with any 440 through 1972 on cars, not wagons. $40 factory option for '72. With that option, net HP rose to 245 instead of 225 on a std T code 440 for 72. U code 440s were rated at 280.

My uncle had one of these, also originated near Oneida- Rome NY. He swerved to avoid a deer but ended up off the side of the two lane country road apparently in a grassy ditch. The car rolled up on its right side, sat there for a few seconds and then tilted back down onto its wheels. He just drove away and kept going. He was a Catholic priest and always drove mostly Dodge or Chryslers. Told that story every Christmas, loved to laugh about that. There was no detectable damage.

Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they want to slow down all the gas station fuel pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime. :-((
@Skunked682 жыл бұрын
Hello. A Californian mentioned it’s a hot craze there already to convert old classics to EV’s. Not as much fun for those who love mechanical tinkering, but easier to install what level of fast power one desires while doing the conversion. I’m thinking suspension is set up for weight in front, most battery weight goes under hood? I like a bit of rumble from a V8, but greatly dislike so loud one can hear from a mile away (or Europeans have it right with metric, 1.6 km). Salt free area or summer drives further north, making a huge sled EV would make it affordable for a daily driver choice. I’m smiling thinking I could have my cake and eat it too. I vote for a 1966 Imperial Crown in shiny black with its ton of chrome as my daily driver. Or 1978 Lincoln Continental with its 200 lb chrome waterfall grill and shiny black paint. I am cringing over potential daily driver door dings tho, must have body side moldings and park it in far corners. Gliding around quietly and 0 to 60 in 5 seconds would be something, for fraction of cost of original 11 mpg’s. Talk about “sleeper sled” !!
