I recommend Metfone, because 100GB of data is $8! Make sure to top up at a Metfone shop and tell them that you want the 100GB Data plan. Easy. Works as a hotspot for my PS4 and I’ve done plenty of laptop work and uploaded 4K videos straight from my phone with this plan. Metfone also has great signal out in the countryside and forests as opposed to Cell Card or SMART. In urban areas such as Phnom Penh or Sihanoukville, I would recommend going with SMART because they definitely have more reliable service including data in the city centers.

i love the weather here. i think that hot season here can be brutal but I’m well used to it after four years now. i did get heat stroke last year though lol. stay in the shade and stay hydrated is my best advice. i can’t stay indoors to save my life so I’ve adapted.

safety wing by nomads has great insurance at $40 a month on average with a $250 deductible and coverage up to $250K. I have land here that I purchased 90% of in my name and 10% of the holding is with an investor. it is one of those things to dive into once you’re already here but do tread carefully. Wondering about your journey. That land you have is incredible. Not just cause you own it, but the video. I think there was some divine intervention going on that placed you at the real estate with the previous owners. Really happy for you. You deserve it. If you are retiring here you won’t have to pay any taxes. As far as US citizens go, we are able to make $103,900 every year -tax exempt, as long as you are not working and living in the United States for over 35 days of that year.

land can be somewhat expensive and difficult to own in your name. it is worthwhile however. most provinces have residential land in desirable locations prepped for building for under $20k, some places are extremely expensive for land. Cambodia is also very diverse in geography so there’s everything from prairie to mountains to coast to forests

If you buy land from a corporation that has citizenship in its ownership, that’s the best bet. Then you own an equal share of that corporation and are bonded the return of your investment under worst case scenarios. This is my advice on buying land.

Mate may i ask how much all that land cos you because ive been looking online and land prices in Cambodia are astronomical 😢, especially in around P.P. but thats to be expected i guess .

lend this big and developed (50+ hectares) costs on average 5M USD or more. The prices are big but the land is selling fast even so.

Matthew If you were moving to Cambodia to work, upon arrival at the airport you get a visa for business which is an E “ordinary” visa, within 30 days you extend that for a six month e.g. visa, would you use to find work, after that you extend with an EB visa yearly, after you have found employment

The courts here prevent that actually. it used to be an issue but they’ve more or less got it under strict review now.

yes indeed. i would be cautious no matter the dynamic that led you to purchase. Mekong Law Group is good and Consultancy Cambodia is decent too for help with legal issues if you aren’t well read in the law here. i hope that helps amigo

Looking back now, that divorce could have been a blessing 👍. Look at where you're at now. Be safe and take care bruh. Maybe build some small houses for rent so other Americans can have a safe place to rent when they are there during their visit.

That’s a bit on the lower end to budget. Your biggest obstacle is managing to get the Home into your name which will require legal paperwork with a legitimate law firm. I’d recommend buying a condo over a house, as the condo will be in your name only.

@@AaronandKim That's the trick of the government. They are scared to get their land sold to foreigners. Funniest part is if the apartment is not made of proper materials and it gets destroyed for some reason, your whole money is lost .. whereas land will remain to you and your next generations forever... Just tell me is there any piece of land available in $25k to $30k USD ?

There is land available or here for as little as $500 for a lot. Land can also run 50,000 for a building lot. It can also be much more. IPS Cambodia has great listings and competitive prices.
