Good tips, but I heard nothing specific to Ducati. This should be done with all bikes. I recently bought a 2012 848 EVO in pristine condition with just over 1000 miles. Great find, but it obviously was't ridden much and sat for over 6 months except for occasional starts. After only a few hundred miles, a fork seal started leaking. Had to send to Ohlins. Had to replace the rear tire too. It was still beefy but the contact spot where it sat got weak. It bubbled out about the same time as the leak. I don't regret my purchase, just beware of the used bikes (and cars) that weren't really used.

The one little thing that has kept me from buying one of these wonderful machines is the valve adjustment. I have a few friends that own more than one Ducati, one of them owns 5 of em… but none of these guys has ever had their valves adjusted. As a result, they end up, not riding the bike because they are overdue for that service. I was chatting with another motorcyclist that was millimeters away from buying a brand new Ducati. This was around 1994. This guy ended up buying a Yamaha 750 FZR or whatever it was called… The reason he Changed his mind in the closing room when signing papers just before buying the Ducati. The dealer said that he would do the first valve adjustment for only $4000. another sign of difficulty with the valves on Ducati’s I know a guy name Bill that worked at the same Yamaha dealership I worked at. Years past and he ended up working at a Ducati dealership. We bumped into each other at a bike gathering one night. He told me about a group of Ducati owners, just outside California, that hire him to fly from Pittsburgh PA out to San Francisco to service six Ducati’s that are privately owned.. they fly him and his tools first class round-trip, they rent a car for him, and he gets to stay at a gorgeous home on the coast. It is free to use the JetSki‘s. all expenses paid.. on top of that, they pay him to service these Ducati’s

If your worried about how much a valve adjustment costs on a Ducati sport bike then you should not own one, same goes to anyone else!!

I have only bought used Ducati’s. Have owned 7 of them. And they have all been excellent bikes. A large majority of Duc owners are older men who take care of nice things so I have had very good luck. Most kids can’t afford these bikes so that’s something to watch for.

That's what I asume aswell with Ducati's. They are OFTEN taken more care of. I'm still pretty young, so I own a pretty old monster 600 (1993). But it's got low milage and seems to be taken care of, despite the oil filter leaking a tiny bit.

I was wondering... I just retired and looking forward to using my Ducati 1198 more often. The bike has not been ridden very often in the last 5 years. The duc has only 11k but most of the miles were put on my several very long cross country rides. I was wondering what I should do to my bike to get it running strong again.

Just use some common sense first. rule 1. Follow your heart then your balls will follow! Ok! FOOK! wear indicators on tyres man is this Dude for real, most of what he says is just common for all vehicles 2 or four wheels. Yep you can replace foot pegs etc to make it look good. If all else fails...... Go to rule 1. OK! I have 4 Ducati's from 400SS Junior to 996, Mostly ride my XR1200 2009 model. No I don't have a Ducati T-shirt in my T-shirt draw. Duh, Cases. Get a fat guy to sit on it while you get out a flashlight and carefully inspect for hairline cracks between swing arm pivotal shift shaft. They used to leave the spider webs from forging them in the ferracci race bikes, to strengthen them. First year 999's had 996r rings in them to fix them from sucking oil out of crank and hydro locking heads. Of course don't expect perfect electronics, and most of the 916's came from balognia with 5 different shades of red. Different one each panel. First year 916's came with loose rear sprocket hub. Watch out for museum pieces, they may have original issues if not riden.

Too much bla bla and not enough facts. If you plan to do an informative video aimed at guiding people on how make a an informed and good investment of a substantial amount of cash, shoot the video when the working day is over and work according a clearly laid out factual plan.3 minutes usually is all that is needed. This video is soul crunching to sit and watch. I certainly did not watch it halfway to say the least. Go check your statistics to see how many viewers actually did. Not a good quality video. This video definitely did not offer any guidance on buying a duke. The topics touched here is basic at best. Besides this, how many replies to this video did you actually read after posting? Well, i dont see many replies from you to say the least proving you did and you value interaction with your viewers. This is my personal opinion. Do with it what you want. (no need to reply)
