Found this Husqvarna 55 Rancher for sale for $50 on fb marketplace. Guy said it didn't run and he didn't have time to figure out why so I had to jump on the deal taking the gamble that it could be fixed.

FYI, there’s absolutely no need for gasket maker on the carb gasket. That’s a great way to plug the impulse line, rendering your carb unable to pump fuel, and the saw will not run.

I saw mixed opinions online and didn’t have a new gasket so figured I’d try it out 🤷♂️ guess we will find out with time. And if it does clog the carb at least it’s easy to clean
@aoxomoxoa186 Жыл бұрын
As long as the gasket was not torn or falling apart, it was still useable as it was, without additional gasket material. All it needs to do is seal the air gap between the carburetor and the intake. The impulse line is the tiny hole in the gasket which mates up with the tiny hole on the intake. If that hole blocks up with dirt, or in this case, form a gasket, the back and forth pressure and vacuum created in the crankcase and cylinder which drives the diaphragm in the carb (which pumps the fuel) will not happen, thus the saw will not run. Your saw ran afterwards, so evidently it isn’t blocked. The more you work on these things the more you will learn. Get a carb kit, learn how to tune a carb with the high & low screws, and that saw will sing!

That brake getting seized is this shittiest thing of all husqvarna chainsaws. Had a brand new husqvarna chainsaw and the brake seized just like this, and I could NOT snap it open. Returned it and got an echo cs-590 and no issues.

Gotta get ya an air compressor and air gun for blowing things clean as you work. No need to expose yourself to chemicals unnecessarily.

You cut down that whole damn tree with the brake on it looks like 😂 but hey you can’t beat a $50 saw of that brand. I found three for 100 online that I’m interested in buying to make run again

To me it sounded like a dry chain, either he forgot to put bar oil in or the pump wasn't working.
