Definitely NOT a pickle fork! Great hull design, styling, handling and performance but there isn't much that can stay with a pickle fork tunnel hull boat, whether it's a standard tunnel hull or a ModVp tunnel hull with the center pod and the outer sponsons! I miss My mid 90's STV Pro Comp ModVp tunnel hull, that thing was faster from 0 to a hundred MPH than ANY car I have ever been in or ran against!

I loved those boats back in the day. They are a wild ride in the bayous of Louisiana. Were there ever a CheckMate with a pickle fork hull? If so, I've never seen one. Cool ride!

I was waiting for the shot inside the bow. My buddy had the same boat on it had pimp white fake fur headliner, maybe yours doesn't have it. Freakin laughed out loud when I shimmied up there, hardly enough room to roll over but PIMP FUR and halogen lights, OHyeah.

I had that boat way back when it was new. 225 with that prop 1-2 people and tank full 70-73 is correct and 3-4 people 65-68. Those boats were super sensitive to weight. I traded that in for an Allison which was a lot faster and stronger transom. Is there any company still in business building that class of boat these days?

@@samd834 the more time you spend in your boat is worth it's weight in gold.... There's no tip better than hand's on.... That way you get the real feel that your boat is doing.... Don't be in a hurry.... Take your time, and as you go, you'll start noticing how and why the boat is acting the way it is.... Time in the driver's seat is priceless in experience...... Don't run faster than you feel comfortable at, you've got plenty of time to go fast after you get the feel of your boat, the more time you are in it, the better you'll be .. stay safe and have fun while you are learning...

@@samd834 about passenger's, this can greatly affect the handling of your boat, weight needs to be distributed around so it helps keep your boat under control... Learn to drive your boat well before you worry about passenger's.... They will suddenly move and may compromise stability, only take them when you feel really comfortable operating your boat, I know, everybody wants to ride with you in your new boat, and you want them to ride too, start with one, maybe two, see the difference in the handling..... You have plenty of time to advance, you'll get there and most likely, you'll be a great captain, instead of a good captain..... More time in the seat, the better you are....

70mph on the water is screaming. I worked in the marine industry in the early 2000’s. We had a customer that had a Sea Ray Pachanga 21 foot, with a 502 I/O. Boat would do 85mph with two people in the boat. At that speed there was nothing in the water but the drive. It would chine walk sideways at top end. Felt like you where flying! Techs all wanted to work on that boat just for the test drive afterward.

The hard way, if you cut the throttle to fast , the boat will get out of control quick, and I mean quick, mine started violently going from side to side and like to threw me out of the boat, be careful about that, cause it can get away from you in a heartbeat...

LoL.. that 3.0 liter V6 Merc is heavy enough. I've seen what looked like this exact same boat, though it may have been a 21' instead of a 20'er, hit high 80's to a tad over 90mph consistently with the lighter, higher revving 2.5 liter V6 Merc 2-stroke on the back. Now my buddy that owned the boat had spent time getting the set-up right as far as prop shaft height to the bottom of the pad(hull's running surface) and setback, prop and having prop fine tuned etc. But for a stock 200hp outboard it was VERY impressive to say the least! I'm sure those overweight, monster 4-stroke outboard motors do well on bigger, heavy hulls that can use the torque but the biggest thing with these lighter weight performance hulls is WEIGHT..

Cool boat, only 20 seconds in but looks like a Checkmate and sound's like a V6 2-stroke outboard on it. Can't beat the true 2-stroke's for performance, lightweight and fun! *Saw the comment about hitting 70mph, and I will guarantee that is just the start. When you get the setup(engine height, setback, balance etc)and right prop dialed in you're going to see a whole lot more speed and acceleration, better handling etc!

@@applicareinc funny. Actually now that I'm thinking about it, I wanna say my buddy had what looked like this exact same boat year's ago though he had a 2.5 liter Merc 200 EFI on it. With playing with setback, props and prop height he was up in the high 80's almost 90 on GPS. He lived by Clifton park or somewhere off the northway. Small would for sure!

My brother, you do realize 68 is not fast..lol now the blue Donzi, the twin Talon, those are fast. Checkmate needs 300xs, then they touch 80..with proper gearcase and prop
