Just recently I went camera shopping in Seoul/South Korea and it's the dream for film shooters. You can get almost everthing you can possibly want. There are many camera shops and I thought you might be interested to see what the camera shops in Seoul have in stock.

I live in Busan. Sometimes there are good deals, but the owners are setting the prices too high these days. Sometimes they pass off 'B' grade level stuff for 'A+' prices online and don't update inventory. If you visit in person or call, they can also be pretty rude. I'd skip Korea and go to Japan for used camera/film camera deals. But, I will say I do like Saeki Camera. They are probably the best experience I've had and their stock is usually nice and priced pretty well. They're part of a bigger company that imports a lot of DSLRs and whatnot, so I think they're a little better than the smaller shop.

Yes, Saeki Camera is great but the the shop where Ivan bought the lens is also very good. The stuff is friendly and the service is great.

I live in Seoul and have been to all the stores that were on this video for my film camera collection and the lenses. The mint ones are seemingly pricey, but there is always room to bring the price down if you patiently haggle. Also the shopkeepers tend to give reasonable discounts once you get to know them after a couple of visits. I got my Leica R bodies and lenses all of which are mint+ condition for equal or slightly less price than the equivalent ones offered on ebay, so I have little to complain.

I went to Seoul about 18 months ago and visited many of the camera shops. My thoughts were that the prices were in almost all situations higher than Japan or U.S. prices. And the shop owners were a little rude in some instances. I did pick up a Nikkor 55mm f/2.8.

I LOVED camera hunting while I was living in Korea. The quality isn't always as high as Japan, but the prices are usually so much better.

I must've hit a sweet spot when I went on a buying spree, mostly eBay, around the year 2000 (before and after a bit). Prices and used equipment was great. I also bought a new Rolleiflex 2,8gx at a great price new in box from an unknown place in Asia, can't even remember which country, because of a recommendation on the web. Sounds insane, but about a week later it arrived, well packed and perfect.

I do online window shopping all the time. Also I live close to one of the biggest used camera shops in europe. So if I choose to get something I can go and see it in person.

Excellent video ! I have been vintage camera shopping few times in Seoul ... My wife is currently spending couple of months in Seoul. I would like to buy a Hasselblad 80mm CFE lenses. Where will be the best place to buy Hasselblad lenses in Seoul ? Thanks ! Javier

I saw some pentax LXs my favorite 35mm SLR im happy ! (it's also the only pro 35mm body pentax ever made and it's just wonderful, it has its issues but it really is amazing if you can get one cheap i'd recommand you getting it)

16:32 650k for a G1 with the 45mm lens seems pretty decent. Especially for a store. Seen people sell G1s for G2 prices in Germany.

Yes, that was the Voigtländer 40/2. Apparently, the Nikkor 28/2.8 is very good.

Yes, not cheap but often in mint condition and that often costs a premium.

@@therealsirrobin Ah too bad. Anyways, I was just there the day before today that you upload the video. They had the T3 black 70th anniversary model for about $2000 I think. And I agree there was quite a lot of rare cameras but kinda over priced. Well, anywhere you go doesn't really matter. It's actually finding it and if you're willing to pay up to own it. Let us know if you'll be in Paris soon! :)

Careful if you are buying lenses as weather there is high humidity depend on season and many store didn’t have a prober dehumidifier to store these lenses so fungus is a problems here and price is quite expensive as in Japan . Guys cheapest price of cameras and lenses is AUSTRALIA because the market here is small and Australia is far away from many countries ( down under) so when local peoples sale theirs gears they sale cheaper than anywhere’s else .

Who knew film cameras would join tulipmania? Fortunately, there are some great cameras--mostly Canon and Nikon--that have so far escaped the mad desires of the gear-obsessed and can still be had on the cheap. The glass is the game-changer for analog cameras.

@@thibaultdubaret9863 Yes, I have found a couple recently. Not an Xpan, unfortunately .I mostly use a Rebel 2000, so I can use Canon EF lenses I share with my 5D.
