Yes after watching previous Revo reviews of yours I broke down and got a predator P3 curly maple with a Revo shaft I have 8 12.9 but I have played with a 12.4 and played really well with it also. I have a white Ferrell on my stick and I shoot with a predator victory soft. And I'm shooting some of my best pool. So I would highly recommend the revo also.

100 % agree with the no ferrule being a better option. When I play with my cynergy with a white ferrule. I have many more instances that I accidentally hit the cue ball during my practice strokes. When I use my Revo, those mistakes diminished dramatically. Because it is much easier to see the end of the tip with a black vault plate. Due to the blur. When you practice stroke, it creates a motion blur. And if you have a white ferrel, motion blur causes the cue ball and end of your tip to become "one" causing more cueball fouls. Also I'm using the 12.9mm. With a nickle shape. It is so accurate. I love it. Wont ever look back. Thanks for the great content and have a good day. Victory tips are the best!

Thanks for this Brian. The video was extremely helpful and helped answer most of the questions I had. One question I still have though (which you answered in part) is regarding the 12.4. In your opinion, would you say that the characteristics, playability and feel of this shaft is more akin to the 12.9 or the 11.8?. I have played with both the 12.9 and 11.8 but I have never played with the 12.4. The 12.9 was what I started off with and after some practice I found that I really liked it. The only downside that I experienced was that table length draw (backspin) wasn't as easy for me to achieve with the 12.9 revo as it was playing with slightly smaller diameter tips on previous wooden shafts, so this is what made me want to try out the 11.8. I play a fair bit of snooker as well as pool, so I am used to a skinnier shaft, but for whatever reason I didn't gel with the 11.8 revo at all as the contact felt really clunky and I didn't receive good feedback on shots whatsoever. (For reference, both the 11.8 and 12.9 had the standard victory tip). Given that I (mostly) liked the 12.9 and i didn't like the 11.8 so much, would you say that the 12.4 could be the compromise that I am looking for here?. I reckon that if the characteristics of the 12.4 airs more towards the characteristics of 12.9 than it does the 11.8, then the 12.4 would be perfect for me.
@metzen89
@metzen89 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Brian You covered the ups and downs of the different shafts perfectly. I play with the 11,8 wvp and its get me out of some bad positions being able to draw 2 table lengths if needed, however it also cost me a final hill-hill game. I had to shot the 9 straight up the table and got just a little bit of side with a nervous arm, it was enough to throw the 9ball and it stuck in the pocket. I do not recommend the 11,8 for beginners.

I have two revo 12.9 shafts. One with a Zan hard tip. The other with a Samsara Jump/Break tip. Of the two I prefer the revo with the Samsara tip ( for breaking and playing ). The Samsara contact sound annoys everyone. If you're curious try someone's BK Rush but use as a playing cue. Very close to the Samsara.

The Victory seems to hold up better but I change my tips every 6 months regardless of how worn they are at the time. With the number of hours you put in, both should last 6 months unless you spend too much time shaping them.

I have a radial pin and a uniloc and a 3/8x14 and a 3/8x10. And I can’t tell a difference from one to the next. The only thing I notice is if one is wood joint and the other is a steel joint. Wood joint has a softer hit. A joint with a steel sleeve over the wood is right inbetween.

Soft tip was absolutely instrumental to fine tuning my revo. The shaft is stiff by itself and combined with a hard tip it plays and sounds like a bare bone plastic with zero feel in it, which can be quite disappointing until you slap the right tip on it.

@FXBilliards
@FXBilliards Жыл бұрын
LOL Ben I wrote you a long message about what I think and then lost it somehow. The bottom line is going from the 11.75 up will be easier than going the other way because the larger tip is more forgiving. You will also (once you get used to it) have more options on the market for future cue purchases and a larger market if you want to sell it later. I hope this helps.

Predator has hundreds of authorized repair centers. Most retailers that sell predator shafts have someone authorized to change a tip. I’ve got four within an hour of my house. You can also send it to predator for a tip repair and they’ll send it back within a week. Oh, and by the way, no expensive shafts by any company should ever be worked on by anyone other than professionals, or you are just asking for trouble? I know lots of guys that do it but it’s a bad idea.
