Hi, My friend tells me i should wait till im advanced in djing to get a pioneer ddj-sx , but im working on a Hercules dj control instinct and im not too satisfied with my limited options on the pitch control and effects , I wanted to know if the ddj-sx is good for beginners and if im waisting money and time by buying it for a beginner ?

a ddj sx is gonna be very good for beginners however it is expensive. one of the main reasons why its expensive is because the mixer can be used as a standalone mixer ( which means you can input other devices and control them with the mixer ) so if you arent gonna plug in any extra cd players or anything then get a controller similar to the sx but doesnt have a standalone mixer

Great vid thanks and you helped me decide what was right for me , I eventually chose to go the vinyl route and bought a pair of Pioneers entry level direct drive turntables the PLX-500's. I have to say I'm very happy with my choice and I'm having great fun building my skills. For a mixer I went with a DJM 350 2 channel mixer because I liked the option to record straight to a USB stick , I like the mixer and would recommend it too , the only thing I'm not fond of is that the effects are for the entire master instead of single channels. Anyway thanks again.

That's too bad but your health is more important. Hope you feel better. I just purchased an NS7 from Guitar center. It was the demo unit so I got a good deal on it. I used it at a wedding after having it for 2 days and it performed without any flaws. Traded my vci-300mk2 for it. I really love this unit and it wasn't hard to adapt to the unit at all.

It's about damn time my brother, your youtube fan base was getting a little restless. Good info for the beginner but I've been spinning since 87 and still rockin the same set of 12's since 89. What I need to see is how you do those bangin as scratches and juggles. I've bee practicing a lot of yours and Manie's mixing techniques and I have to say my blending game is now at a whole new level thanks to you and Manie. Nuggas over here in the US just don't blend like you guys.

If you have a soundcard in your pc that allows you to plug in external equipment, then you could use any turntable (and mixer). If you want to skip the step where you have to hook your turntable to your mixer and hook that up to your soundcard, then you could just go for a usb turntable. If you want to scratch you will need a turntable and a mixer

I am DJ mark hamilton from Finland and I am DJing since 1995 at home and on gigs since 1997. My first DJ set was two Technics SL-1210 MK II turntables and some Rose Mixer and then I paid Pioneer CDJ 500 MK II and Vestax PDX-D3 plus Vestax PMC 17 Mixer with Chicago Style Rotary Faders. Now I am sold my all DJ old equipment and paid Traktor Kontrol S4, laptop and two Traktor Kontrol F1. Also I sold my all records (vinyls and CDs).

Thanks, I agree. There's a lot of extra information and all of these subjects deserve more attention, but i think it was the right decision to keep the video like this. If i would go deeoper into the material in this 1 video it would get too complicated and it would become too much info. I'll add it (soundcards) to my to do list.

I used to DJ back in the 80's and early 90's and lately got back into it as a hobby and realized the USB MIDI controller was the way to go. Least expensive and but some learning curve unless you get a controller with a built in sound card. But if you want to be turntablist then Turntables are the way to go. But if you just want to mix MP3s, a USB Midi controller is the way to go thats very cost effective.

I adjusted to the 7" platter real quick. It's a bit like driving a car you've never driven before. The clutch, steering, break and gas might feel a bit different from driving your own car, but after a couple of minutes/hours you get used to it and it feels like normal driving ;). If you want a controller with a bigger moving platter you should look into the Denon DJ SC3900. I haven't tested it yet, but it looks promising!
