PD7, Dude, I can't wait to install this mod on my Outrun. I got it last year, but my basement flooded and that took months to fix, then right after I had my injury, which was back in December and I'm still unfortunately recovering from that. Wow, when it rains it pours, but at least I have the equipment ready to go. Hoping in July or August sometime to get this mod in as well as the Buy Stuff Ultimate control panel and monitor for my Time Crisis (still have to build that cab as well). But it's SO GREAT that I got to see your video to see what I'm in for. I got the Ridge Racer Wheel from Buy Stuff Arcades, so I could get the rumble, and they wired everything for me as well, and cut grooves at the top of the wheel so it will fit in my Outrun. Those guys are SO COOL and I hope everything goes smooth with the install :) I bought this racing mod specifically for my favorite arcade racer of all time, Hydro Thunder. I do like Daytona as well. Thankfully Buy Stuff Arcades put the Dreamcast version of Hydro Thunder on their system, because that version fixes the dips in frame rate the Arcade suffered from as well as upping the graphics a bit and adding in 2 more amazing tracks not found in the Arcade. I also love Crazy Taxi and San Francisco Rush 2049. And you bet I'm going to try Micky Speedway now, thanks for showing that off! Here's the reason I think Pole Position is a bit harder to play on this, and all Arcade1Up cabs. I remember talking to Mario from Buy Stuff Arcades when this kit was first coming out. I asked him if they could add certain games like Pole Position and Roadblasters. He said they tested Roadblasters, but they couldn't get it right, so it wouldn't be on the system, and they were still testing Pole Position. But they did get Pole Position on, which I think is cool, however, I think the wheel difference between the Arcade and what Arcade1Up is using may be the issue. Pole Position Arcade uses a free spinning wheel, meaning it just keeps spinning without stopping, like a spinner. And as we know, the Arcade1Up cabs have traditional steering wheels that stop at some point, left and right. This is, of course is just a theory, but I'm thinking that may be the reason it's harder to play. Oh, and I wanted to give you some information David from Buy Stuff Arcades gave me regarding the 19" monitor. If you remember, I left a comment awhile back regarding my concerns about the actual size of the screen. I measured the Buy Stuff Arcades monitor from corner to corner and it came to 18". David cleared that up for me and this is what he said: "We crop the 64 pixels off the screens because all 19" screens available are actually 1280x1024 and they need to be 1280x960 to work with the Stock PCB and to be a true 4:3 screen. So when they are cropped the resulting diagonal measurement is effected. But the screen width is still exactly what a 19" screen would be." So yes, this is a true 19" screen. I like the fact that David understands this kind of stuff, so we get a fantastic experience. They do the math for us. One other great thing I heard from Buy Stuff Arcades is that they're working on a more powerful version of the racing box running on a PC! That means we can upgrade at some point and play even more powerful games! Can you imagine if they're able to get the arcade version of Fast and the Furious working on their new system? Then you're cab would be complete again! Keeping my fingers crossed :) And THANK YOU for showing the fan. I had no idea Buy Stuff Arcades recommends this now. I'll be ordering one for sure to keep my system cool. And also thank you for showing the shutdown process. I didn't know this. It looks like the way one would shut down a Raspberry Pi, which I have to do on my Donkey Kong cabinet to make sure it shuts down properly as well. I want to keep my system safe. And just a quick teaser, just for you. I should be dropping my new Donkey Kong 3/4 scale cabinet video review this week. I also mention the proper shutdown process for it. Pretty cool you were able to mod your cabinet to keep it interesting. I am so happy I PC modded my Ridge Racer (did all the work myself as well as building by upgrading an old 2010's Dell SFF 7010 Optiplex PC) and I have over 100 OG arcade games running on it currently, but going to add more in the future! The thing with the F&F arcade game is the steering is janky in TeknoParrot no matter what you do. I tried to adjust it the best I could so it's playable, but it takes some doing to get anywhere in the game. lol Sadly Hydro Thunder still has not been properly emulated to run on MAME. So the next best thing to me is the PC version which is as close to the arcade version you can get. Of course it seems the Dreamcast version isn't too bad either. But I only add actual arcade games to my builds. Pole Position and RoadBlasters use a spinner wheel setup as previously mentioned here in the comments by somebody else. I kind of got them both to work on my Ridge Racer, but they are still kind of wacky with the steering. Mainly why I got Glen's GRS Star Wars yoke to play the driving/shooting games. (like RoadBlasters, Spy Hunter etc...) The Pole Position games I am going to make my own spinner wheel setup with a spinner and a PS1 steering wheel lying around. (still a work in progress) I also got the Yamaha handlebars to play Hang-On, Super Hang-On, Enduro Racer etc... Basically to play all the motorcycle type games and other ones like Paperboy or any other game that you can use them on. Of course here quite soon my T2 Arcade1up will be a full fledged PC modded flight cabinet with an actual '80's game running on OG hardware with the modded PC to run many other flight type arcade games! I really wish you were closer as I would totally help build you a PC setup for your racing cabinet. Sadly we are so far apart in distance. lol On another note I just bought a new radiator and thermostat for my '82 280zx Z car due to him getting really hot driving him to work. It's going to be over 100 degrees here in Arizona this coming weekend and I'm freaking out! (I have to shut my Z off while sitting at a traffic light due to him overheating) Anyway the Grand Prix GTP is still in the shop and currently having parts sourced at a good price for the engine rebuild. This one is going to cost me quite a bit of money. But after all is said and done I should have a solid dependable daily driver car for many years to come! Then give my poor Z car a break.

Man that Hydro Thunder is tempting, but still a shame they couldn't include at least one version of Fast and Furious with it.

Totally keeping my F&F cabs stock. They still work great together. Is your wifi issue from antenna or hard line into the cab?

A solution if you want to keep F&F and Drift until a softmod comes out would be to have two cabs, one with the Buy Stuff mod and the other stock.

Great review! Been waiting for this. Couple of questions though: 1) How does the shifter work on games with manual shifting when there are more than 4 gears? Specifically would you mind testing out F355 challenge? 2) How does the rumble work with games that support it? I really wanted to do this mod but the fact that you lose FnF which I actually like, was a non starter. That's why I'm waiting for their PC build. I did purchase their kit for my star wars cab because you still retain those old school vector graphic star wars games, and you add a bunch of flying games that seem to work great with the yoke. I picked up a Buy Stuff encoder for Fast and the Furious but haven't installed it yet. Ultimately I'm planning on getting a PC build, although I'm not sure if that will be what Buy Stuff is selling or something I do myself.

The irony is that the fact even the modders couldn't include fast and furious, they just increased the value of the 1up version because it can't be included. It's either one or all the other.

I like the boot up sequence but not having some form of the marquee title playable is somewhat of a miss IMO

I play daytona off of my ps3, hooked up to a Logitech G29 steering wheel and displayed from my projector, which is on a 120 inch screen, its fun

Great upgrade Mr7, dedicated multicades are awesome in my opinion, from shooters to fighters they are all great especially if one has limited space. One question on the retro shooter, Ive done some research and so far it appears that TimeCrisis is the PS1 version and not the arcade, is this correct or does it offer the arcade version as well? thank you for your time Mr7.

Love Buy Stuff. I have the RR and SW gaming box. Im using the stock speakers, but I have Logitech z313 sub. The Logitech makes the stock speakers 100 times better. I highly recommend Logitech z313.👍 Great video!👍
