This helped alot because I just got a faux hawk haircut but the person didn't use a razor really but in a month when I go back to get it trimed i want them to buzz the sides and back so you can tell my hairs shorter then on top! I think a 3 will b good for me and it doesn't make the hair super super short like a #1 does

Haha! I have had long hair for just over two years. Having a variety of different hair styles, something to experiment with. But then i thought that i have never had a 3... Buzz cut, so i got it, and a few weeks later, i got bored, and gave myself a two, and bleached it. That was three weeks ago, my hair had grown over double its length, and i really want a number one, but i'm not allowed. SUCKS. So i'm sticking with a number two, off to get it tomorrow morning, left the razor at my old house.

4 weeks ago I started with my buzcut. Couldnt do nothign with 5cm of hair so after much advise let it trim down to 5mm. It felt great. I bought my own trimmer and now its 1,5mm. I get allot of positive comments. So Im keeping it :D.

@schuggs i suggest you try some shorter lengths. how do you know if you don't like it til you try it? by the way, how often do you cut it?

@killjoyz4theworld I would suggest a #3 all around, then use a #2 on the sides and blend it into the top so it looks better. Lately all I have been doing is a #2 all around not worrying too much about blending.

@haircutfreak1 I've actually trimmed it up a few times since this. the last time I did it, I did all 2. I feel 5 would be too long for a buzz cut. It is different having one after having long hair for so long.

I voted for the buzz and I was right. It looks great--much better. (Actually, I think a #2 would have looked a bit better but the #3 is good.) Thanks for sharing.

@killjoyz4theworld I am not exactly sure how the measurements are in relations to attachments, but no, #2 wont shave all of your hair off. The way its designed only allows a certain length to be cut. The lower the number, the more hair is cut off.

@SBToTheFace is your hair very long now? If it wouldn't be much shorter it might actually look better and if it doesn't, then it wouldn't take long to get back to its current length if its not too long right now. I hated it at first but after a few days I liked it.

@schuggs Yes, very. The first clip of hair that he buzzed off I felt it and I screamed "Holy shit!! It's so short!". I'm still getting used to it. I personally I wouldn't go shorter than a number 4 on me. I don't think I look good with hair shorter tan number 4. How long have you had long hair before you got a buzz cut?

You can always start with a higher number then if you want it shorter, use the next number down. The lower the number, the shorter the hair.

@schuggs well i started out like you. i started with a 4 and i just kept going shorter each time. I've done a 0 a couple of times but didn't like it. so now i do a 1/2 cut when i cut my hair. also, the hair cuts started getting more frequent. at first it was every 3 weeks, then every 2 weeks, then every 10 days. now i cut it every week.
