@@BackwardTelevision I can do it...though not that fast. I think it's just one of those _feel_ things that are either obvious to you or they're not. There's a particular reggae drum riddem that's nearly the same thing (also slower...). Next time I come across it, I'll post the link...

Ahhhhhh! How brilliant to hear this again, 10-12 = the sacred time (killed me trying to get up for school though!). Quality punk, then in the middle of it a 12 min reggae dub track or Ivor Cutler. So good and diverse. Nobody comes near John Peel. Great quality too! My TDK tapes never sounded like this

It is just a touch more mad than the version of “Another Music” on this, isn’t it. That’s still my favorite ‘Cocks” l.p., but you are spot on about this version. It’s the fret slides on the bass as the “1-2-3-4”in the beginning, I think😅 If you were in an great, but struggling outfit, between the years of circa 1968-2003, and were phoned (or Emailed) by John, most likely, you quit school, probably quit your job at the “Photo Mat” or “Movie Express” rounded up the band, and booked some travel time, from the Tubes, National Rail, or Motorway, to Greyhound busses and vans on highways, to cabs and flights, to get to BBC-1 🤣 Once was a time when I had the original pressing of this E.P., it had the metallic flake finish on the iconic “John Peel” pattern as well…… 😞 fortunately for me, the thieve(s) who boosted my small, but beautiful record collection, got off with a “fair to poor” condition” copy, at best, it was the n heavy rotation all throughout the 1980’s and early’90’s so it was “used to the handle” as they say…..the jacket was worth more than the actual wax! 🤣 That was the brilliance of John, and any “Peel Sessions”, if your band made that cut, your band had something.

I need to do a bit of research regarding the exact date of this, or as close as I can get, so I can work out whether it was Steve Garvey or Garth Whatsisname on bass. And why does everyone always refer to him by his first name only? Is it because, like me, they can never remember his surname? Great recording, by the way.

Buzzcocks - Peel Session 1977 1210AM 21.2.23 then you ask: you sure devoto was in the buzzcocks? erm.. couldn't give a fig, mate... that said - i do stress that caring about other things is a possibility. if it's 1977 then Devoto was still knocking about. maybe he fucked off after someone let slip a generic eff off in his direction... or perhaps he couldn't wait to get out of there? in mine own experience the latter would be the case. fuck this for a game of soldiers type affair.... was Devoto edited out? shame as the e.p - the band's initial offering is the acme of power pop (originally a sarcastic stab at vile notions of being a pop star which has come to mean a genre of post punk init's own right)... and the original e.p has more to it than any buzzcocks' album... another man's kitchenette for want of a better term is decent enough album but... anyhow; i shall leave it at that as i am merely waxing about stuff already read. p.s glad i have something to impart as i think my initial question was to be - where was this woolies they stood outside of situated? only asking as i cannot for the life of me think where Manchester's woolies once stood. i know where rochdale woolies was... but... anyhow...
