Elaine Lordan who played Linda's sister Sugar suffered from extreme bouts of mental illness brought on by some horrible personal tragedies, alcoholism and drug abuse. She was photographed a few years ago and I didn't recognise her. The good news is, in the last 2 years or so, she seems to have really turned a corner and is looking SO much better as well as no longer drinking or taking any drugs. There's always help out there for anyone who needs/asks for it!

I would describe Pam Ayers as a comedic poet . She won a talent show over here in the 70s [opportunity knocks] that brought her to our attention .Sihe is still around performing . google her .you will see what the connection is . Watching your reactions to the show is almost as entertaining as the show itself

Yes, “Pam” was a well loved uk celebrity poet during the 80’s, and the actress playing “Sugar” was a well known celebrity, staring in the popular uk tv soap “Eastenders” before this appearance. 👍

@@Buckaroo_Baldwin Yes, she appeared in 2 episodes of gimme (1999 & 2000) and also appeared in “Eastenders” roughly the same time. During those times, celebs seemed to blend between different appearances. But give me “Pam Ayers”, we haven’t seen anyone like her since. 👍

God, I loved Tom's impression of Kenneth Williams whilst not even pretending to be Kenneth Williams! And Sugar's ridiculous "impression" of Pam Ayer's. 😂 Kathy and James were awesome in this episode, and I loved that both Linda and Tom had a happy ending, and your wonderful reaction to Tom's mirrored mine. lol I had the working class favourite Chicken And Mushroom Pot Noodle whilst watching. Love reacting to this great show along with you. :)

Linda's sister is not as sugar walls but she is a well known actress in the UK as she was in a huge British soap Eastenders. Pam Ayres was a west country comic poet.

that bit when he said can i jump in with you had me cracking up when i first heard it. sugar walls is fictitious forthe show but pam ayres is known for her comedic poetry and cheryl baker is real and carol vorderman and lorraine kelly and the guy with linda in the toilet in her dream was dale winton also a tv presenter but sadly died 4 years ago no cause is known but possibly suicide

Sugar Walls is just a character played by Elaine Lordan she's not a real celebrity, Dale Winton is a real celebrity and is in fact gay which is why Linda made the comment 'I thought you was gay'

Pam Ayres was a real poet in the 80’s and and had her own show with hilarious poems. Sugar Walls is not a real celebrity. The character name is an innuendo. If you put your mind to it, you’ll find it refers to a particular female body part! 😳😱😂

Sugar Walls is a fictitious character but the apparent reason for her fame (The Eurovision Song Contest) is a real event that has been running since 1956 and is held annually. All the 'facts' about the Eurovision Song Contest in this episode were created for comedic effect for Sugar's character. Perhaps you should review some Eurovision songs, some big names have performed in it over the years, i.e. Abba, Celine Dion, Julio Iglesias, Katrina & The Waves, Bonnie Tyler, etc.

Sugar Walls is not a real person but Pam Ayres is a famous poet. Her poems are very funny and when narrated by her they are even better as she has a country accent. Well worth looking her up and listening at some. I live watching you laugh. Try watching Kevin and Perry, it's fantastic.

You shouldn't apologise for not knowing a few things about the British references ; Pam Ayres was / is a ' poet ' especially famous in the '70's, and very popular at the time. No, Sugar Walls is a made up ( celebrity ) name, for comedic purposes for this comedy show . Love your reactions and enthusiasm for British comedies. Perhaps you could lobby for them to be shown properly over there, instead of always being re-made using American actors ?!!? xx

Gimme Gimme Gimme is comedy gold!! Both fantastic actors!! But what's amuses me is, us Brits are seen as 'stiff upper lip ' etc but yet our censorship laws are way more relaxed than the USA. After the 9pm watershed the only word off limits is C*nt.. Many US actors/actresses have said they like doing UK tv interviews because of our relaxed censorship regulations... So it's interesting to see a Americans reaction to this..

Yes but this was the 90s, before the internet took off. I bet the GGG legal dept had a sweeky bum situation happening after reading the scripts. Kathy Burke(Linda) was also in a good sketch show called 'Harry Enfield and Friends'. Give it a look, you'd like 'the slobs'
