What make pandemic worse are racism, xenophobia, discrimination. They divide us when we have to act in unity. It makes me heartbroken to hear and eyewitness the rise of violence against Asian people, especially Chinese people, in the US because of politicians’ inflammatory words that appeal to people’s primitive fear and prejudice.
I want to dedicate the piano cover of By Your Side To the Edge of the World, an adaptation of Chinese folk music Song of the Fishermen, to my fellow Chinese and Asian friends who are enduring double fear and anxiety right now. In crisis, let’s rise above politics and ideologies, embrace our ethnic and cultural identities.
