I went to a high school in Oklahoma in mid-00's. There were three Asians and people often said to me, "man, your English is good. Where did you learn it?" My response, "uh, Seattle." "WOW, you guys have a town call Seattle in Korea??" 🙄🙄🤦

@@annelocked It probably doesnt happen as much anymore, even though the 2000s werent that long ago relatively speaking, there definitely was a change in mentality and image of asian americans throughout the years.

Hello Kate Choi. I am Korean who is two kids mom. I am posting the comment to say i am so lucky to know your channel because it's really helpful for my English learning. Your videos are really interesting and touching and makes me keep watching over and over. I am very eager to improve my English and now I find a perfect content for my learning. Your channel is very authentic and meaningful to me. I especially watch this clip more than 5 times shadowing. Your accent and pronunciation is very clear and the way you talk sounds intelligent so I fall in love with your channel. Thanks a lot :)

I'm Asian Australian, and growing up in my primary school years I also experienced situations where I'd be embarrassed to call my mum by how I address her at home simple because it wasn't 'Mum'. Interesting to reflect back on it now since I hadn't really thought about it until you mentioned it! And I can totally relate with the constant appreciation and thankfulness I have towards my parents who started from scratch in a new country and worked hard to build a future for us children. Thanks for the video.

Your video is such a helpful one. It helps me realize a lot of things. It also let me know that theres someone out there who has something in common as being an Asian as me. Actually, i’ve always loved being an Asian. I dont really hate any certain parts on my face as well as my body compared to the other races. The only thing is that im an immigrant. I’d say that im fluent in English right now but sometimes it can somehow be a barrier for me. And since i wasnt born here, i really have no clues about American cultures. My school also dont have that much Asians. I literally have always wished to have a group of Asian friends because i will identify with them better even tho we might have different backgrounds. I mean i still get along with other races but i often feel left out. Anyways, u have such a cute voice and i love it :)

This is not the first time that I have a story like this; I had a Korean friend that had tried suicide a few times. She was really ashamed of not being to fit it as a Korean and said that she was going to save up and get her eyes done to look more white. I argued with her so hard to try to make her understand that she comes from a great people. Koreans are some of the most beautiful people on earth and probably my favourite Asian group to study. There is no reason to feel that you have to match up with ANYONE else.
