Doordarshan now brings to you the entire series of this literary classic which was televised back in 1993 directed by the brilliant Basu Chatterjee. Actor Rajit Kapur played the role of Byomkesh Bakshi, for which he was highly praised. Ajit was played by K.K. Raina and Satyaboti was played by Sukanya Kulkarni who was the first actress to play the character.

Names of Byomkesh stories are also a riddle. Can anybody say why this story is called KAHEEN KAVI KALIDAAS? The answer is Kalidasa poet (the Sanskrit Dramatist of legendary fame), walking down the road, says, ‘You are eating because it is not there. Had it been there, how would have you eaten?’ the Sanskrit i cant remeber the bengali is Nei tai khachchho / Thakle kothay pete Kahen Kavi Kalidas / Pothe jete jete HERE in this story there was missing entry in the accounting book of PRANAHARI PODDAR which leads to the murderer Vubeneswar Daas. Hence the name.
