My son was in the exact same situation years ago. He was 19, driving down a multi lane freeway, a girl pulls out in front of him, coming out of a mall parking lot. They crashed. She blamed him because he was speeding, and I have little doubt that he was in fact speeding. However, like this case, she was at fault. She even took him to court. Judge ruled in my son's favor. She was suing for her car damages and everyone in her car took ambulances to the hospital, so she was wanting medical cost as well. I can't remember if she had insurance or not. My son was scared to death when he called me that night. It totaled his car and only had liability insurance.

@@mls2023speeding is subjective, not objective, no court can determine whether or not someone was speeding, they can determine who's at fault and speed is almost never a factor, that's why JJ said it "doesn't matter". I agree. As the owner of an older paid off car in great condition, if someone hits me, their fault I am skrood. My truck is a 93, runs like a dream, clean, paid off, the city values it at just over $500 For registration purposes. I would have to put myself in debt for years for a new car if I had it wrecked
@KittenBowl1
@KittenBowl1 8 ай бұрын
@@radolfkalis4041Lol that’s not how it works. You pay $1000 for a vehicle and restore it to something totally different you would have receipts for it and you can get it appraised or have it estimated. Since your only car value is $500 you would only get what you paid and if you put any money to it bring it to court and they will consider it as long as an accident was totally not your fault.

JJ said "don't mention classic to me" In all the years I've been watching her, I have NEVER EVER seen her award a decent amount for a classic car. She has the same opinion of them, as she has with Pit Bulls. She won't tolerate either.

Loved that Judge Judy had the defendant point to his car with the stop sign showing that he's already lost. If you have a stop sign and no one else does, you have to wait till it's clear to go, otherwise this can happen. She's just focusing on the insurance because this could have all been settled by them and not have to bother her about it.

Judge Judy is right about insurance. The insurance is meant to cover accidents. Lets say Person A has insurance and Person B has insurance. If Person A causes the accident, Person A's insurance pays for Person's B damages for medical. Person B's insurance will pay for a rental for like 30 days or so. Now lets take this example in the case. Person A has insurance and Person B does not. Person B causes the accident. Who is going to pay for Person A's medical? Who is going to pay for Person A's car damages?
@trekgirl65

Person a and person b? LMAO! No it is Defendant that caused the accident and had no insurance at the time. If he is found guilty, he has to pay out of pocket for all medical bills and car repairs by order of the court. No need to make it sound so difficult, when it is easy to figure out who pays for what.

It's as simple as "it's the defendants fault because he was illegally driving on the roads. If he hadn't been, the crash wouldn't have happened. If he had insurance, it still would have been his fault because he had a stop sign and the plaintiff didn't. The plaintiff had the right of way."
