Your teaching is excellent. With this type of teaching and learning method, it is very easy to imagine what your students are up to. *WHY TO USE RECURSIVE FUNCTIONS* - if this program can be done using conditional loop statements then why should we use the recursive function?

what i dont get is in sum(1) where the process goes back x=1, and it enters the sum(2) function. now the normal routine would be it checks the if statement, and here the value of x is 3, so wouldnt it check the if statement and enter an infinite loop.

In the given program whenever the SUM function is called, each time you are initializing s=0. I hope this program RESULT is 1, instead of 15. Please let us know

you are correct she didnt run the program in a compiler. the result is 1 because finally the function retun x, when x=1;that means the value in "a" is, what ever return in the sum function tht is 1;so the out put of the program is 1 she is terribly mistaken
