This young lady has a C8 Cervical Nerve Root Compression. In this video, I perform an upper quadrant neurological screen, identify the level of the lesion and make treatment recommendations. Hi, my ulna nerve gets affected when my head is tilt back looking upward or tilt back looking in an angle.. this affects both hands left and right where the pinky bends inward and I have no control over it and it's very painful I believe they call it claw syndrome

So extremely helpful. Thank you thank you! I have had cubital tunnel syndrome symptoms for months, right after putting my lower back out (a few weeks after) and something just didn’t feel right with the diagnosis from my doctor. I’m definitely going to query this seeing I now have the same pain radiating down my other arm now too lol. Ahh not ideal at 26 years. I wouldn’t mind being young and indestructible again! Take care haha, subscribed :)

Hi Jared, The key here is that you get the correct diagnosis first. I see a lot of these. I use cervical traction a lot. I recommend it 3-4 times a day for people with nerve root compression. Cervical traction I use: www.healthproductsforyou.com/search?searchterms=saunders%20cervical%20traction%20device Cervical traction video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mLGRiZSCys6snXU.html Best, Paul

5 weeks may have a better surgical outcome if it's still neuropraxia. If the nerve lesion has advanced to axonotemesis or neurotemesis, the symptoms may persist despite the surgery.

solid video 1. You forgot about the muscle between index finger and thumb. That one’s innervated by ulnar as well

Yes you are correct. Please know that these live patient with issues have already gone through a very comprehensive evaluation so I shorten up the videos a bit. Thanks Pat!

This was so helpful. Thank you. I am a fitness instructor and have C7./T1 bulging disc and although my pain has gotten better I still have weakness and cant perform small motor movements like using scissors, opening ziplock bags, handwriting, typing etc. Where can I find a physiotherapist like yourself in San Diego? Ive been to PT, accupunture, and have had 2 epidural steroid injections but am concerned about how long the ulnar nerve is taking to heal. I use home traction and TENS, ice, seems to help a bit. But I feel like there is more I should be doing or adding to my care team. Joanna

Wish I could help. Not familiar with PT's in that area. A couple things... Have you tried traction? I'd like you to take a look at this video and test I developed. It can help to verify that your weakness is coming from a nerve impingement in your neck or not. If not, you may want to consider an EMG. Weakness always is the bigger red flag indicating nerve impingement. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oN10ZqqLr6yrmKN1.htmlest of luck! Paul

I have her same symptoms as a 50 year old male. I had an MRI which showed mild narrowing and mild thecal sac effacement (not sure what that means), and disc osteophytes complex on C5-6-7. I then had an EMG on my left arm and leg which showed C8 and L4 radiculopathy. Strange the c8 issues wasn't caught on the MRI. I am going to PT now (4th visit) and so far it's not helping. The weakness is scary. Makes me worried it's something like ALS or some other serious neurological disorder. It's probably not a good idea to google your symptoms. Do you think sometimes these nerve root compression issues go away on their own over time?

Rarely my friend. I have a disk issue at c4-c5 and at c6-c7 and went through eight weeks if therapy and I’d feel great when I left but the next day or two days later it was back to the drawing board. Traction did help but only temporarily. My right hand is tingling pretty much all the time. It started in my left arm. Now it’s in my right more than my left. Mainly pinky and ring fingers but sometimes whole hand. Elbow hurts a little. Idk. Again, I’m nobody to tell you that you won’t get better. Ya gotta have faith. I just know I’m not improving. Everyone’s different. Good luck my friend and I mean that with the upmost sincerity.

the nerve root compression is different then the spinal cord compression. Severity varies with everyone.

Why surgery consult?? Before doing PT for results?
@OrthoEvalPal
@OrthoEvalPal 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Monique, What I did not mention was that she did undergo a course of PT in one of our other offices.. Weakness should raise a red flag for nerve damage more so than pain and paresthesias. I have seen too many of these go unrecognized and the patient ends up with permanent nerve damage. If the strength improves, we continue with treatment. Best, Paul

Hello there i really hope i will get a respond, when i was 15 or so, i use to lean on my right hand side of my back and use a mouse to computer games for 10hour+ aday for months if not year, when i was 16 or so i would fall asleep at the bus and wake up in the most extreme burning shocking pain, that will lift my right arm up on its own, it happens when i bend my neck forward while leaning left, each time this happen my whole c8 shoulder arm finger will have a burning pain and numbness for one week, during this time warm water will feel hot, small pain will intensify. Im 27 now and all my years i avoid leaning my neck forward towards the left, i think my c8 is pinched, i will feel soreness from c8 from time to time. How can i treat this problem and how much will surgery cost in us to fix this permanently, i really hope you see this please help thank you!

I would recommend getting a good evaluation with a neurosurgeon or therapist familiar with the spine. I do not know how much surgery would cost since I am not a surgeon.

That was my husband's first symptom, he thought he had a rotator cuff problem. It took an MRI of his neck to document that the pain was from his C-spine and not his shoulder.
