It was heavily influenced by the Bosnian War which was going on at the time of its development, I guess Tiberian Sun 2030 is also some people's predictions (it won't be as bad as that at the time but might be on track).

I suppose it fits in a way. Command & Conquer's original concept was effectively a reaction to the politics and media of the time as well as how drastically the nature of war had changed; and that era was very much when we were starting to really feel the Birthing pains of this brave new world...

So several people have mentioned how relevant this song is now. It was relevant in the 1990s of course though....the wars that Yugoslavia broke apart with, the Persian Gulf war at the beginning of the decade, Kosovo, and some other wars too. Despite being a decade of "peace" after the end of the cold war, crime was also actually pretty bad for at least the first half of the 1990s too in the US.

Command and Conquer was the first video game I ever played, and it's still one of the best. I remember playing it on my PS1 all the time, it's the reason why I love RTS games so much.

Wow, can you believe that was 18 years ago?! Andi545, if you did that video, great job. The simplicity of it = badass. While I always imagined news footage of riots, molotov (sp?) cocktails and general anarchy, this is cool. Thanks for that. And thanks to everyone who loved the game and this song. I was sorry to see Westwood be consumed by EA. In 1995, I don't think any of the gaming companies were using independent music in video games. Westwood took a chance and we owe them our thanks.

somthing about rock today pisses me off. Bring back this style of music as it dominated the 90's and i think the landscape of music will be alot less limp and boring as shit and above all else KICK ASS.

Old post that I do have to agree with. But for all these people who complain for the need for better metal/rock. GO FUCKING FIND IT. There are so many smaller underground bands that go for those styles that could use support. Just because what you want isn’t popular, doesn’t mean it isn’t out there.

Hello, I don't know if this still would be relevant to you but the wiki page says "I Am" was a progressive rock band. I myself would somewhat categorize this as industrial metal but there are so many sub genres that I only say that tentatively. I hope it helps a little. I could maybe recommend 3Teeth as a similar band that is active.

Cars and trucks rigged with bombs roll up at key government structures, explodes next to buildings filled with civilians(car alarm goes off). Civilian wakes up from being knocked out from the first explosion. Secondary explosions. Nod infantry in the tens of thousands pour out of the subway systems and on the streets and mow down civilians. Apache's lay down close air support barrage fire on nearby patrol vehicles responding to the attack and chinooks fly across the city combat dropping infantry and vehicles. Attack bikes and buggys roll out of the low flying C-17s and drive through the highway and subway tunnels and into the city. Light tanks, apc's, flame and stealth tanks blowing and lighting shit up. Light artillery and SSMs shelling incoming enemies. F-22s in formation break formation and engage enemy air. GDI Air Support arrives to intercept Nod ground forces Chinooks arrive along with light vehicles, APCs, Medium tanks and Mammoths Orcas and A-10s swoop in and take out some infantry and light vehicles, then get taken out by F-22s, Stealth tanks and Manpad Stinger Infantry. Massive air battle over the city takes place. Nod and GDI commandos meet face to face while both sides are still engaged in combat, exchage close fire, end up and fighting in hand to hand combat, Nod commando kicks GDI commandos ass, puts a bullet in his head. Nuke gets dropped on the remaining GDI forces wipes out most of the city.

I imagine it tells us about how Evil can be a timely spirit, how it bypasses the order instaured by humans to be vehiculated by the same men, and how it comes to be. Furthermore, it tells us about how even the most manichean institutions (those that try to make the divison Evil/Good seem clear enough) are weak enough to give in to Evil, probably since they wouldn't know what is Fair/Just, therefore ignoring Evil, since they concentrate on believing all is Good. Finally I imagine, it claims Evil is a waste of time. Not being constructive, it kinda contradicts the way the universe just keeps developping over time, though it does pack up a lot of stimulation in a short period of time. Hence the "live my life fuller before I die". "Holding a candle" apparently means to be "superior to", and the wind, generally refers to something we, as human beings prefer to avoid, or to downright ignore as one says, "so much wind in the trees" it's about things people say and others ignore - until it gets too heavy : in other words, It might mean "Do/say something superior to what is generally done/said in the generally futile/irrelevant lot of what humans actually do/say", and then see how the times react. For all that would help, pleasure to be of assistance, KaxiLaxi. Song kicks ass by the way, been trying to learn the bassline off Demolition by this same Franck Klepacki, can't find any tabs, nor is it simple to break up to reproduce it to the ear.

The whole game is about the world post USA vs USSR. It was meant to be an heroic fantasy game but they endured so much news about the first gulf war that they decided to change the setting. Now I'm not the guy who goes around claiming that Deus Ex predicted 9/11 because no towers, but Command & Conquer however... Western trade center gets destroyed by an emerging fanatic state in middle orient ? Even those lyrics are hard to believe now. A brilliant sci-fi work. I wonder if they tried to be super dark or we're just not very optimistic (but spot-on) about the future. And yeah, it's pretty much about democracies hypocrisy leading to their demise/strenghtening the nod. "I live of the feeding of lies" > refers to both the GDI propaganda AND the Nod propaganda/religious doctrine. While GDI isn't overly christian in C&C, the conflict between GDI and Nod has some strong religious undertones. It's not a fight regarding ideologies, they share the same ideology, GDI isn't helping civilians more than Nod, it's just about who gets the divine right to rule the world and subdue/eradicate his opponent."I corrupted and ravaged her mind" about the Mother (Earth), corruption being pollution by tiberium. At this point I'm seriously tempted to say that the tiberium is just a metaphor for power and greed. That's why it's polluting the Earth so hard.

That argument is rather stupid. So if I don't like a car I bought I should become a machinist and build my own car? If some company out there wants to make some money and does not want to belong to EA, Bioware, Bethesda, etc; they need to develop a game with some effort and intelligence. Seems everything is using the same engine (unreal for example) along with the same exact game play.
