The upgrade alone turns the Scorpion from a meh tank to a very good tank. Cost-effective doesn't even begin to describe Rocket-equipped Scorpions.

Their low armor though become a major issue late game. They are just obliterated by artillery or air attacks and in narrow chokepoints they get in each other's way and against long range units they struggle. So while their burst damage is impressive especially considering their cost against a player that's paying attention they can be easily countered. However if you managed to catch someone off guard and they manage to close the distance they are indeed insanely cost effective.

The funny thing about that cutey little tank is that thing is most likely very modernized P-26/40 italian tank from World War 2. Its like GLA got hands on some really junk tank (italian ones were kinda crappy, even during their time) and managed to pimp it up to stand against something like US Crusaders, which are basically more fancy Abrams, just by adding better armor, ammo and rockets.

@@BaranZenon Actually during their time the Italian tanks were pretty good. The P-26/40 was a formidable vehicle when compared to other tanks of the time like the British cruiser II and the German Panzer III. The real problem was poor Italian leadership and the corruption in the manufacturing industry that didn't want to innovate. While the P-26/40 was a match for the Cruiser II against things like the Sherman it was hopelessly outclassed. However a 1940 Panzer III wouldn't have fared any better. However the Germans weren't using 37mm Panzer III's in 1943 anymore. It's not that the Italian vehicles were inherently inferior but they just couldn't keep up with the other powers when it came to producing tanks and developing new ones. Despite what Mouscilini might have wished the Italian industry wasn't really comparable to the great powers. Italy's industry was only 12% the size of Britain's and only 7% the size of Germany's and only 5% the size of the US. Even the French industry which was the smallest of the great powers was over 5 times the size of the Italian one.

Well, the story does take place nearly a decade after the events of Generals and the writting is not that bad. For example, the US has gone back in tech a lot due to isolationist policies (which implies more expensive imports of certain materials required for high tech) and a reduction in military budget, both result of the defeats it suffered in europe against the GLA. China's limitations in nuclear arsenal deployment are due to serious problems they had with an unhinged general Tao.

The Generals ZH has been remade in the CnC3 engine now. So you can play it now with a new level of grapics. Hopefully Mods will rise for that mod too.

Big damn shame that they killed the series with Rivals and _The Game That Shall Not Be Named_

@@felixleong61 Nope, the last C&C game is C&C: Rivals, a mobile game. People got real mad when it was announced, people expected a new classic style RTS C&C game, but instead they got a crappy mobile game with microtransactions. Rivals was the final nail in the coffin for the series.

It's interesting that the ECA tank is called the Leopard cause it's design philosophy actually matches that of the Chieftain. The actual German Leopard tank was lightweight and fairly cheap, being kind of like the battlemaster. Using mobility, numbers and firepower to overwhelm the enemy from fairly close range. It also had armor very spread out and a lot of anti infantry weapons cause the idea was to have the artillery and air support take out the enemy tanks and then the leopards would launch the counter attack. The British Chieftain was meant to endure an enemy tank attack and break it from positions.

They're to ensure the tank is still able to attack infantry whilst preventing friendly fire when the tanks are crushing infantry.

@@comm1098 I think the best way to probably do it is to give both units a direct attack order, to minimize "reaction time" differences.

I think it can even beat Kodiak with recycled rocket pods upgrade but video owner did not try it.

Both of them take a considerably long time to build. The leopard takes almost as long as a freaking overlord to build.

You need to realise that every faction does things differently USA doesn't need a strong ground force because it has the most powerful Air force out of the all China is all about the hordes And GLA is not a conventional faction

Reasons for this. There is a balance as everyone says. The Kodiak and Leopard have long spawn times and are very expensive. However, Russia having the strongest MBT is sorta the point as Russia is a brute force armored warfare faction. They are SUPPOSED to be unchallenged in armored fights, as ROTR makes it clear that Russia is especially made to be for armored supremacy.

The Overlord is definitely one of my favorites due to childhood nostalgia. From ROTR I absolutely love the Golem tank!

1.87 is the most recent version available, 1.9 is still in developpment.

Nah.... We already have the Paladin tank in the game. Which is basically a M1A2 with a laser turret defense.

1) Yes it does More on 2) unlocking Canister Shells gives the Leopard the ability to toggle between normal shells and canister shells. You're not permanently losing out on anti-tank damage by purchasing the upgrade. (Same goes for the Kodiak's Refleks Rocket upgrade.)

It has not launched yet. The mod was in hiatus for a long time. But good news! It was just announced earlier this year that the creators have resumed work on the mod. There will be a version 1.9 before 2.0.

@@j.madelozo8222 I mean tanks are supposed to crush infantry in-game, and its pretty annoying when using groups of tanks as they damage and even destroy each other as the tanks are running infantry over. The coaxial MG kinda helps as it gives them a weapon (of sorts) that doesn't damage each other. Plus the coaxial MG does a bit more damage combined with the main gun against lighter vehicles like Technicals.

Giving it Camaraderie is too OP when it's already the most powerful Tank unupgraded, and it getting a Combat boost is too far

@@MrMarinus18 The kodiak's speciality (and Russian Doctrine in general) is having Fairly Weak Infantry but having absurdly powerful vehicles and Assault Armaments (The Mauler dominating in its Role being able to take out Light vehicles faster than other Troop carriers like the Technical or Humvee) and the Kodiak outclassing all of the MBTs in everything but Cost and Speed and then there's the Sentinel, the Golem and Blackbear which are so powerful that the Overlord looks like a light tank in comparison

@@Randomgamer-di3ow The Golem is great, the Sentinal though is far too specialized and cumbersome. But you do make a good point that the Russian vehicles are very quality heavy so it wouldn't make sense for them to have that ability as they are not meant to be expendible.

@@Randomgamer-di3ow The weird thing is that despite the weak infantry Russia has like 3-4 transport vehicles. The overlord is a support vehicle first and foremost.

Do you have the game patched with GenPatcher and do you have GenTool installed? GenPatcher fixes a lot of the issues that allow the game to run more smoothly on modern machines. GenTool does some other fixes too and lets you play online. Try those and see if it runs better.

If you want to make a good game, then the vehicles will be functional and decent. Unless you give the army with shitty tanks VERY good aircraft or infantry and balance around that. Generals was done in the early 2000s, so it was shortly after the Twin Towers attack (9/11 2001) and the US had been in the middle east for at least 3 decades. Now look at the GLA: they make use of terror tactics, are displayed as overtly zealous and they use Cold war and even WW2 vehicles, often patched up with scrap. So no, the current geopolitical situation doesn't (and shouldn't) affect videogame development. RTS is about game mechanics, the "modern era" just make use of current day (or slightly into the future) tech and aesthetics. You can also set your game in an alternate timeline (as GEN/ZH, ROTR and SHW do) and give the middle finger to current events. Or just make it about current events, but make everyone look like clowns and/or assholes. The current ukraine/russia conflict? Both sides are full of shit. Both Ukr and Rus politicians and military are so deep into bullshit that you could make a whole new bull out of the shit. Not something I would make a game about, unless to mock them. Wanna try something serious? Make a game about, I dunno, "Warlords of Africa" in which you get factions such as Somali Pirates, Nigerian Enslavers and so on. You could have a campaign mode for different factions, a skirmish/multiplayer mode and a Conquest mode similar to the Global Conquest in Kane's Wrath mode.
