I just love the implications of this scene. They're exploring the apartment, but they can't understand the human elements like the books and ornaments because they're generated. But my favorite little moment is when CLU goes to pick up one of the little puzzles on the mantle. He hovers over the gold one, which reflects his own identity (gold lines run through his suit) before picking up the silver one, the color of the Users. He wants to identify with his creator but he never can because he's not human. I just love the hesitation and the anger that follows when he sees his reflection in the silver apple, again reminding CLU who he really is.

Hate on CLU and Young Flynn's CGI faces all you want, just remember it was basically the best they could've done for 2010. Plus, CLU having a fairly obviously animated face helps him feel more like a program, and thus more inhuman. His uncanny features add to the unnatural menace of him, which is unintentionally useful, in my opinion.

@BloodyBay6 жыл бұрын
That's what I was thinking when I first saw this scene too! It's like, even though CLU decided that Kevin Flynn was his enemy, he still holds a certain reverence for Flynn as his creator as well. This mingling of hatred, vengence and reverence is also one of the parallels between Tron: Legacy and Mary Shelley's classic story of Frankenstein. Even though the Creature also came to despise Victor Frankenstein, the book is thick with hints and suggestions that the Creature still respects him, particularly in the chapter where the Creature confronts Frankenstein on the ice. And there are more parallels too, from a brilliant man working beyond the cutting edge of technology to create an artificial man, to the creation exacting his revenge through the creator's friends and family (because he cannot or _will_ not harm his creator directly), all the way up to the conflict between creator and creation ending with their mutual destruction....strip away all the flashy lights and the cool vehicles, and Tron: Legacy essentially becomes a 21st Century reinterpretation of Frankenstein, come to think of it.

This is by far one of the greatest scenes in Tron history. What this scene captures is “sudden realization” as well as “curiosity”. Clu & his programs are so curious as they walk around Flynn’s house. Their creators home. Where he lives. Where he thinks. Etc. but Clu has a hard time here, he remembered the moment he was created. He was given his name & purpose & Flynn’s promise. To change the world. Clu also is sad & hurt, but is also in pain too. Beautiful moment from Clu here cause as we watch the film we start to understand his corruption as Flynn stated before when he told Sam.
@kirklanyoshinaga8953 Жыл бұрын
His corruption started because he felt discarded and cast aside when Kevin discovered the ISOs. Really fascinating in how layered this movie is when you think about the larger picture the movie painted.
@andrewli6606 Жыл бұрын
The real conflict is that programs aren't human. They don't change like we do. Kevin can change and age, but Clu still looks and is exactly the same as when Kevin created him. Even Tron cannot really change. He broke out from being Rinzler because Tron was made to fight for the users. Kevin didn't understand at the time that programs aren't human and can't expect them to change like humans. He was even conflating Tron and Ram with their users. Hard not to when programs look and sound so human.
@Brandonian8 ай бұрын
@@andrewli6606another subtle moment I like in this scene is when Kevin smiles and puts his arms on Clu and says “together, we’re gunna change the world man!” At that same moment, Clu’s face lights up, like he’s excited to be apart of the journey. He remembers his creation and what he was designed to do. CLU was created to make the perfect system and out of Flynn's arrogance. So once the Isos appeared CLU saw them as an imperfection because he was literally created with a plan in mind. But Flynn embraced them so for CLU, it appears that his user is becoming an imperfection. (Remember, in this universe a program's user is the most important thing to them.) So CLU did what he was created to do, and turned on Flynn. in the TRON flashback CLU states, "you've been corrupted." Here CLU is remembering his creation and the frustration for having to turn on Flynn. Hence the outburst.

CLU looks at the apple and remembers his creation.. this is the writer's way of hinting you to understand subconsciously that CLU is representative of Mankind created in God's [Flynn's] image and his instruction to create the perfect world. CLU then represents the religious extremist who seeks perfection to the letter and eventually turns on God which is combining this idea with the idea of SATAN. Sam clearly represents the Son Of God since he is Flynn's actual son created outside of the system [The World]. The ISO's are oddly creative people, savants, gays, and whoever doesn't fit in the system as it was originally planned. In the end Flynn makes a statement on the failed understanding of perfection which is to both condition the viewer to be more accepting of other's and to entertain people already willing to accept the notion leading to greater support for a movie that teaches this view through familiar art\ideas.

I looked at CLU, like those 'read-only' discs I used to use. CLU was mainly given that directive, 'to help Flynn create the perfect system.' The ISO's like Quorra, are imperfect, and to CLU, they are like, a virus when it comes to creating 'the perfect system.'

Imagine how frustrating CLUE must be, where the only purpose to his existance was to create the perfect system. A system that can never be perfect, and thus, a purpose never able to be achieved.

The film is similar to the story from the Bible as God (Kevin Flynn) created the world, Lucifer (Clu) he was "destroyed", and the throne was therefore Archangel Michael, Flynn's assistant.

The wiki about this safe house says Kevin made it after the Purge. But that wouldn’t explain how Kevin had all of those books from the real world. My theory is that some point after Clu’s creation, Kevin had this safe house built just in case he ever did get trapped and he put all the stuff in there for preparation.

when his father's mirror Clu was made, his father forgot to include one valuable and key bit of information that would've completely changed the storyline. "You Are Clue" "I am Clu" "You Will create the perfect system" "I will create the perfect system" my addition that would've changed it completely: You will never forget that Perfect cannot exist without imperfection

We can argue about the results, but de-aging an actor and having him be a major character was EXTREMELY bold for 2010. Plus, within the story of the movie, Clu is a computer program designed to look like a young Jeff Bridges so there is some wiggle room there

The hair looks great, but Clu's expressions don't look quite right, and some of his facial muscles look dead. Needed much more work. Too bad. @Admiral Jab: I don't think Jarvis is an idiot, I think the film is trying to show that he's just never been exposed to human things before, and doesn't know their purpose. At least he shows some curiosity.
@TTTTCJGKS9 жыл бұрын
Epoxinator Well CLU is a digital copy of a human so that can explain it I guess. Like if you ever do one of those things where you take a picture in the webcam of yourself then they make a person that looks like you digitally but is kinda weird looking, I have no idea what i'm talking about so whatever.
@godofevil94687 жыл бұрын
I thought Jarvis was looking at stuff like clu was because he wanted to show he is just as important and just as powerful as Clu and then he knocked the stuff down and clu mentally said "f***ing idiot"
@excelsior86826 жыл бұрын
CLU's face was completely CGI for the entire movie. It's not a real human face, that's why it looks so strange. Tbh I feel like it suited the film's plot better that way, since CLU was always just an imperfect reflection of Flynn, flawed and artificial.

"You will create the perfect system" "Please define parameters and acceptable margins that would allow to identify the successful conclusion of this operation. Then delineate possible paths that are to be undertaken to accomplish this process." I mean, what the hell did Flynn expect by giving CLU such a vague instruction?
