On the left is Lionel C&O H7 2-8-8-2 articulated steam locomotive. My first JLC series engine has details that rival Visionline at a fraction price. Here running next to a Legacy 1309 2-6-6-2

Absolute monster of both engines

Ever since getting into the hobby the size of the curves on my layouts has gotten bigger and bigger. That is so I could run models of the steam monsters you see in my collection. I particularly am fascinated by articulateds like this C&O Chesapeake and the WM Mallet. I've visited both remaining Allegenys and I cant get over how huge they are. Truly fire breathing dragons. Glad you like what you see, I'll be doing a vid featuring all my articulateds soon.

I agree. Articulated steam engines are my favorite. I just love how the boiler hangs out on curves. Thanks for the comment and for subscribing if you did.

Thanks for the Subscription and positive comment. I'm working on a more through review of the Lionel C&O H7 2-8-8-2. For a early 2000 engine it has details I haven't seen since.

I have the same H7 and after enough time, I could no longer take having a museum level of detailing with only two chuffs/revolution. Why Lionel did this I have no idea but I finally had mine upgraded to full Legacy and back when I did, the re-release in Legacy did not have whistle steam but mine does. Now, the newer Legacy H7 does have whistle steam. Like you said, all of the JLC models have the same detailing as any Legacy re-run. My JLC Y6b rivals my 3rd Rail Y6b in detailing, they are incredible.

Thanks for the positive comment. I first saw this engine on a KZfaq and fell in love with the ‘pyramid’ catwalk. I collect C&O and added it to my wish list. I found this one for about half retail hoping nothing major wrong. It’s perfect and the detail is above any MTH premier or Legacy I own. Whistle steam is not that big of a feature for me. Rather have cylinder steam. I’ll live with 2 chuffs for now. Love the whistle.

@@99thObsidian Funny you mentioned the pyramid catwalk. That was the reason I chose this model as well. I guess it's because it was so different. Keep making your videos, they have a nostalgic feel to them.

Looks good. What is the radius of outside curve? Thanks for uploading video of two great engines.
@99thObsidian21 күн бұрын
Outside curve is O-72, inside is O-63. Min curve for the C&O and WM is 72 and 54 respectively. Thanks for commenting. Full review of H7 coming soon.

When I see engines like these My first though is handling them without breaking something.😊

I agree. I have an unboxing video of the C&O H7 that I plan to release this week. In it I specifically talk about my method to avoid bending/breaking engine details when handling. Subscribe and ring bell to know when my next video is published. Thanks for the comment!

That Allegheny is a Beast.

C&O ran a few different articulated steam engines. The one on the left is actually a 2-8-8-2 H7 Chesapeake. The one on the right is a WM (formerly C&O) 2-6-6-2 Mallet. The H8 Allegheny was a 2-6-6-6 wheel arrangement. Here is a vid of my MTH Allegeny on my old Harpers Ferry layout: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oa6eYMaCv7zOaKc.htmlsi=UcEdr9OAxH0P9EOO

@@99thObsidian Nice Video Ken. I just recently bought a Lionel TMCC Baltimore and Ohio EM1. I'm a big fan of these large Steam Engines.
@99thObsidian11 күн бұрын
@@jebbthetrainkid1281 The EM-1 that I got a couple of years ago was my first TMCC Lionel scale engine. I added TMCC to my DCS control system just so could run it. I now have a handful of TMCC and Legacy steamers. The EM-1 remains one of my favorites since its B&O and may have run through Harpers Ferry.
