The Andrew Johnson National Historic Site in Greeneville, Tennessee is owned and operated by the National Park Service. It was one of the stops on a 10-day bus tour from Asheville, North Carolina to Austin, Texas led by historian and author Richard Norton Smith in May of 2011.
Andrew Johnson served as President Lincoln's second vice president for just over a month, and succeeded him when Lincoln was assassinated.
Here is park guide Daniel Luther portraying President Johnson and telling the story of how Andrew Johnson met Abraham Lincoln.

Cool fact: Andrew and Eliza Johnson were the youngest president and first lady to be married at ages 18 (Andrew) & 16 (Eliza) respectfully in May, 1827! Since Andrew never attended school, Eliza taught him how to read, write, and math.

Daniel Luther positively rocks this role. Is he still at the AJNHS? He was very matter of fact and believable, not at all hammy or pretentious, as so many actors in this genre often are.

Interesting note about how the recommendation for Suratt clemency was not forwarded to Johnson. Stanton/Holt were probably acting out of revenge for Lincoln's death and not intentionally trying to blacken Johnson. But that's not what it looked like to Johnson when the truth emerged 2 years later. No president wishes to look bad and certainly not when the fault is by another persons hand. In that context, whatever trust he had in Stanton really evaporated and he had to go.

US Grant was a pretty bad president, a great general; Warren G Harding was a definite stinker, as was Calvin Coolidge. Martin Van Buren was also a mess.

President Andrew Johnson seems like a very likable man and a decent president. I would be proud to shake his hand.

@ZurkBK I would say the worst presidents in our history will be... 1) Joe Biden: for crashing the economy and selling out to the Chinese. 2) Bill Clinton: for disgracing the office of the presidency. 3) Jimmy Carter: for being a weak president and thus making the country weak. The best Presidents would be... 1) Abraham Lincoln 2) George Washington 3) Donald Trump

He was a courageous man who stood alone against the rape of the South by the radicals led by Stevens. Unfortunately the carpetbaggers reigned free to steal the property of the widow and orphans of the South.

The only bad move President Johnson really made in my opinion was, he bought a beautiful house in his home state of Tennessee. But, he bought the house on a very busier street with a lot of traffic. Too many cars keep driving by. Other than that, he seems like a very likeable Tennessean. I always liked the people from Tennessee.

You do realize that when Johnson bought the house that town of Greenville did not even go that far. It is only busy today because of the progression of the town over time.
