Ok, it goes without saying that this is the best rendition available on KZfaq. It's not just your perfect voice, but the acting as well, which is crucial in an aria. I almost believe your loved one has just gone to Hades for ever.

While I agree that this is a wonderful performance, I must take issue with your observation that this is necessarily the absolute best rendition on You Tube. Off the top of my head, there are amazing, even immortal performances by Maria Callas, Janet Baker, Marilyn Horne and hopefully, Lorraine Hunt Lieberson (although I cannot find Ms. Lieberson's rendition), and a multitude of others, all of which would be unfairly treated if relegated to secondary billing by your over-enthusiasm.

I disagree. I can't hear the pain in any of the performances you cited, tough Janet Baker comes close. "A few wrong notes may be forgiven, but singing without feeling cannot.”

Great job on this! Wow! Working on this right now and checking out different performances. Yours is truly wonderful. Great example/reference for those who are learning this lovely piece. Your expressions were fantastic - absolutely wonderful at conveying the emotion of this aria. Thank you.
