why did you use void? couldn't you use int or something else? ( im a beginner).

void means your function is not returning any data. If you change the return type to int, then your function has to return an integer.

Void is practically telling your function “Don’t display anything just do the math” and then when you enter it in the int main it’s practically just displaying whatever work the void function did

What exactly does it mean to "return" something? Like return an integer?

It means that the when the function is complete a value will be returned to the place in the program from where the function was called. Hope this helps.
