This is an interesting module, but I can't say I'm a fan. There are some odd rooms/encounters within, like the sleeping monks, that are inexplicable to me. That said, there are some great bits within, like the toxic atmosphere, realistic considering it's a sealed, enclosed space, filled with rot. I especially like the mummified centaur. Love the art booklet. There were very few of those. All in all, it's as good an example of a magical burial crypt. There are very few of those, I think (probably wrong on that), the only other being The Tomb of Horrors.

Love this series! That said, I’m perplexed at the choice to not duplicate each other’s top five choices. The “surprise” of the “cross over” is way less of a pay off than 10 separate encounter/locations that you could discuss together in the video would be. Not to mention that you can both discuss each other’s choices, which is the same net result of the “surprise” when you find out that you both chose the same locations. Just my 2cp.

Agreeing with @andyaction here: I discovered your channel only in recent months. And while I was excited at first to hear two like-minded fellas my age discussing classic modules, my excitement quickly waned to boredom just to hear the 'crossover' observations so often. 🫤 You two may be interested in being surprised at hearing one another's same opinions on 3 of 5 encounters on average, but you lose me when you talk about the same encounter for 5+ minutes each, basically repeating one another's observations. While the rooms/encounters you mentioned here were indeed interesting and exciting (to a degree), there were several other chambers and encounters I found much more interesting, compelling, and challenging. I would have much preferred to hear some insight on those. **Spoiler Alert** For example, when I ran 'some of' the module a couple of years ago as a Castles & Crusades scenario for my players searching for the Rod of Seven Parts, I completely did away with the puzzle/trap for the Couatl while keeping the creature itself as a guardian of the 5th piece of the Rod. In order for the party to gain the Rod, they had to prove their worth by defeating the Gibbering Mouther - who I had beefed up and made into something akin to John Carpenter's 'The THING' to represent an aspect of the Queen of Chaos (BBEG). The party had a tough time though since earlier in the session the Half-Orc ranger decided to take the cursed Axe from the vampire's crypt despite the ominous shadow it cast up on the wall. 😨 The module is pronounced Tam-Oh-ah-KHAN, btw, not tamoCHAN. 😉

Hello, this video brought me to your channel as I am planning to run this module for a group of friends this summer. They are 6 players, at 5th level, fifth edition rules, using both the Yawning Portal reprint and the original 1e module (1e mostly for flavor). Looking at the combat encounters they seem fairly tame, but there are all of the environmental aspects chipping damage here and there. Any advice on whether I should or should not amp up the combat encounters? Character death is fine, they are coming with backup characters. Thanks in advance!

Name pronunciations were also stated in the classic module. So I'm not sure why they were having such a rough time - especially having run it for groups more than a few times. *shrug*

Nice, this is a great adventure, of course, it was developed for tournment play but with the right tweaks, I find it can also be great for a location-based adventure in a campaign. The names are tough, but I have one for you. Room 11....Say-man-AH-wok
