Quick note - if you start with default project settings like I did, the cloth balls will crumple all over themselves on collision. Best to change the simulation settings at the beginning to Substeps 40 to 60, Collision: Passes to 4, and Extra Iterations to 2.

Will be slightly different for everyone depending on the version of c4d, computer and scene settings, these settings worked for me, I usually start with Substeps set to the default and increase as needed

Looks awesome! Not sure how you are able to get it to playback though, I keep getting this error after 12 frames or so "Collisions Limit Exceeded" Edit: Switched back to an older version of C4D and it worked flawlessly.

hi, it's cool, but i wondering why why the property panel of the cloth label is different from yours, so as to i cant find the button of mix aniimation?

Depends which version of c4d you're using, might need an update

C4D 2024 is super buggy because they re-wrote the core. If things are acting weird you might be better off switching back to 2023 until they work out the bugs

Yes, 2023 much better so far. 2024 errors occur frequently and i switched back for test. Viewport animation is stable. Thanks

Just have a question - How to apply different texture to each and every sphere ? as they are under cloner means only one texture is visible on all spheres....i want to apply different texture on different spheres.....can you give any advice?

Hi Sonia, you can use a COLOR USER DATA node in Redshift to achieve this, if you take a look at the file you can see our exact setup;)

@@CGShortcuts Thanks for the reply, but redshift is not working in my pc as i have AMD graphics card and redshift supports only NVIDIA graphics card. I am using corona render. Is there color user data in corona render?

Correction: Yellow is fully On and Red is fully Off with regards to the vertex map.

It’s a cool technique. But why using the cloth sim instead of rigid body? Since the end result is more like rigid body sim? Also in your original animation the spheres go back to the original position in a much nicer and smoother way, in this tutorial they jump back into place very fast and in a less natural way 🙁

The mix animation in cloth sim seems to work better than follow position in bullet solver, plus I like the slightly squishy look. I think I just made the transition slower and added some damping in my render

That means your sim has hit the limit to what your GPU can achieve, you can bring some of the settings down, make your simulated geometry more low res, or try the slower CPU simulation option instead.
