Күн бұрынC5 Corvette Z51 Package, what's included? The C5 Corvette Z51 package is mainly a suspension upgrade over the base C5 Corvette. The C5 Corvette Z51 package includes:
- Updated Leaf Springs
- Larger Front and Rear Sway Bars
- Upgrade Shocks
- Power Steering Cooler
- Performance 3.15 Gear Ratio for Automatics
The C5 Corvette Z51 Package cost $350 from 97-01 and $395 from 02-04 and only about 17.5% of non Z06 models included the Z51 Package. All C5 Corvette FRC came standard with the Z51 Package.

2004 C5 six speed with the Z51 package here. Personally, I like the hatch better on these C5s than the FRCs cars.

Wow, that was a lot of info in a short video! Don’t have the Z51 so I upgraded my sway bar bushings and going with ZO6 shocks. I did discover that I have the 3.15 performance gear box with my automatic. Thanks, Dave!

Still pretty cool even if the package wasn’t a HUGE difference, I mean it makes the C5’s with them way more rare than a normal C5! My C5 does include the Z51 package along with some other rare stuff like a HUD and more!

I couldn't hear you over that A&A kit you have lol. I was surprised to to see such a small percentage of Z51 C5s. I thought more would have came with the option, but I guess it just wasn't popular back then.

Dave, great that you were able to provide such important information. And your other videos have been helpful in resolving some issues and showing me ways to mod. I have a 2001 Black/Gray Coupe that has the Z51 package. I found the RPO code on the glovebox as you described.

Wow! Thank you. Yes. Just purchased my 2000 C5 convertible last Tuesday. Previous owner never mentioned that it had the handling package. Now, if I can only get the LED headlights from drawing the battery.

My 99 base magnetic red C5 now has all the Z51 package including Bilstein shocks and willwood 4 piston brakes 0n 4 corners.

Thumbs up Dave, and thanks for the clarification! Thought for sure my '02 didn't have it because I don't have the slotted rotors, but there it is on the options codes in the glove box. Must have been confusing the Z06 upgrades with Z51. Don't know about you peeps but it's supposed to be a gorgeous day here in Virginia tomorrow. (mid 60's) I'm thinking of going topless and cranking the Beatles, "Here Comes the Sun!!"

Glad to hear this cleared it up for you. It did warm up but there was a lot of snow melt and salt still on the roads. We just got a lot of rain that cleared everything out, so she'll be home soon

My 98 has the Z51 package. When I was looking to buy a C5 I wasnt specificly looking for one with the Z51 package though. It wasn't until after I bought my car and looked at the RPO codes that I realized it was a Z51.

That's a nice surprise. I would have thought more C5s would have been optioned with the Z51 Package, but it obviously wasn't was popular as it was and is in the newer gens.

You forgot one…. The former owner of my ‘97 removed the RPO codes sticker from the glove box. I ordered the original build sheet from the corvette museum and there it was right about the color code Z51 Perf Pkg

I think 97 and maybe 98 had the RPO codes on the underside of the driver's side rear cargo area cover, not sure if the exact name of that thing lol. Thanks for watching and sharing your experience.

My '99 C5 is a Z51 car in Artic White with Firethorn Red interior with every option except the CD changer. I have 27K original miles on it. Handles great!

When I bought my 97 Arctic white C5 some idiot had removed the rpo code sticker from the glove box. I used A micrometer on the rear sway bar and it measured 21.7mm but wanting to be absolutely sure I ordered the Build sheet from the Corvette museum. There it was shining like a bright light. Z51 SPORT PKG. I know it’s not as involved as the newer Z51 but come on. It’s still just so cool to uncover an Easter egg on a car like this. 1997 Arctic White #425 6 speed Z51! Low low miles and gorgeous!!!!

1997 and early 1998 cars had the RPO tag in a different location. It was under the rear left cargo cover.

Nice video. My automatic car has the 3.15 gears only. I will be upgrading brakes, tires and suspension to C6 Z51 spec this year.

I like the subtle changes the Z51 offers. I don't even know what the Z51 includes for the C8 though. I'd have to look that up.

For $350/$395, it was a great deal. I covered a few of the upgrades for the C8 Z51. Obviously a lot more since they charge almost $6k for it now lol.

I got my 2004 corvette base (Coupe) for $14,500 with 65,000 miles it came loaded, with billy boat exhaust and a sound system. The older man I bought it from took care of it. Did I over pay? Or is that a deal? He wanted $18,000 for it, there was a lot of negotiations and test drives lol. had a Volkswagen and now my vette. Till this day C5 is the best vette no matter what. Every market is different as far as pricing goes, but that is a good deal for where I am. I have just about the same miles. The $18k was a bit high, but you did good with your negotiating. I'll have to use you next time I want a car lol

I have an 2000 FRC, I have not seen an power steering cooler but it is an 2000, and the Vin says it is an Z51 😃.I'm looking to upgrade to C6 Zr1.

It's right in front of the steering rack. It might be hard to see from the top and a lot easier to see from the bottom. C6 ZR1s are sweet, good luck in your search

"Z51" seems to really confuse people! I think that's because they changed from year to year, even within Corvette gens. Like my 1996 Corvette Z51 doesn't have the same upgrades of earlier C4s.

I have a PS cooler but I have the 2:74 rear axle. Maybe the cooler was a stand alone option.

Do you have Z51 in the RPO codes? The G90 and G92 should be there if you have Z51. I'm pretty sure PS Cooler was only a Z51 and Z06 thing, but could have been added by previous owner.

The gear ratios are different in the manual options when compared to the base C5.

All manual C5s had 3.42 gear ratios. Only the Z06 model had slightly different ratios, even though it still had 3.42 gears. The manual base cars and manual Z51 equipped cars had the same ratio

That's only in the Z06 model, which came with M12. All non Z06, including Z51 came with MM6. This video was about Z51 Package

@@YellowVette04 Well, color me uninformed. For quite some time I thought the manual gears were a different ratio in gears 1-3, I am wrong. That didn't start until 2005 with the C6 Cheers 🍻

Great video! 👍 Another way I can usually tell is the Z51 equipped cars seem to have slightly less gap in the fenders versus the base suspension cars. It may only be like a 1/4 to possibly a 1/2 an inch, but I notice it. Am I correct, or are my eyes deceiving me? Thanks

Some of the suspension components are different as I mentioned and maybe the height is slightly different. It's also very common and easy for owners to lower the car on stock bolts, so that may have something to do with it.

Good video! Found a 02 base corvette that has no headsup display, no magnetic ride and no digital climate control!? I’m wondering why the owner ordered it this way? Manual but asking price for 50,000 mileage is $19,000! Worth it?!

That's high for a base of the base. Don't get caught up on Mag Ride. Yes, it was a great shock for it's time, but the shocks are expensive to replace. At this age, they'll need to be replaced or there's ways to bypass them. The other options are nice to have, especially the HUD. I know used prices are through the roof right now, but I'd wait for the car you want.

My car never came with them. It's RPO Code B84, if you want to know if a car was optioned with them from the factory or not. I'm happy mine didn't come with it or I would have removed them years ago if it did. Same process as removing emblems, so not difficult to do.
