C55 AMG (RENNtech Headers) LOUD SOUNDS!! Revving + Parking Garage!

9 жыл бұрынHey everyone! I know a lot of you have been asking for a sound video of my C55, so here you go! I started off the video with a LOUD cold start, let the car warm up for 10 minutes and then went over to one of my local parking garages for some fun! If you ever do things like this make sure to let your car warm up to running temperature so the oil can warm-up and cycle through all of the mechanical components inside the engine! I plan on doing many more sound videos, including ones with more driving footage and pulls, but this time I didn't have anyone else to help me film so it would have been difficult to film that, but I figured this would do for now until I make another one! The modifications done to the car that affects sound are: Secondary Cat and Resonator delete, RENNtech Short Tube headers, and a RENNTECH Carbon Fiber airbox. This sound is amazing. I have a facelifted CLK55 and it sounds way too tame. This reminds me of the C63, where it gently purrs when idling but sounds awesome when on it.

hey man i just got a c55 and it came with the secondary cats and resonator which were already removed but its not that loud i was wondering how much did the renntech headers cost you did you buy the ecu hand held tuner

Fellow C55 owner here. Does the car drone at all when you're just cruising with your mods? Also, do you know how much power the airbox really adds?

Only a slight bit of drone at freeway speeds. Nothing unbearable, I daily drove this car for awhile and didn’t have any problems. The airbox adds maybe 1O crank horsepower. In my opinion the biggest change with the air box was the improved throttle response and “liveliness” of the car.

Rear diffuser I got on eBay, it was a long time ago. Can't remember how much I exactly paid, but it was somewhere around $300 I think.

Those renntech headers are outrageously expensive, did you also get them with your airbox? Its like 3500 usd retail, for what seems to just be a set of shorty headers. Unless it includes the downpipe etc which would make more sense? Thanks

Yes I got a really good deal from a friend of mine parting out his C55 track car to build a custom intake and long tube headers. Check out Eurocharged headers or MBH headers, they're a little more affordable and sometimes Eurocharged will have sales with discount codes.

Nice ride, but everything sounds better in a garage or parking garage for that matter due to the acoustics. Just like in a tunnel or under a bridge. Set that GoPro up on the open roadway.

I got the headers second hand, expect to pay somewhere between $1500 - $2000 for short tube headers. MBH and Eurocharged made some headers for awhile that were cheaper, not sure if they still make them. Other than that is was $150 of work from a local exhaust shop to delete the secondary cars and resonator.

+amgmrs Yes, I still have the car! Tough choice! E55 and E63 will definitely be more expensive to buy as well as maintain. Insurance is going to be greater for the E class AMGs and one of the big reasons why I went with the C55 is that it's a lot simpler of a car than the others. Meaning it doesn't have more of the sensors and special features that can go bad. One of the big headache areas for the E classes is the air ride suspension. Some have been known to give out and it's a very pricey repair BUT! The E55 and E63 do have more horsepower and they're larger so if you are going to be driving people around a lot the back seat space in the E class is much bigger than the C. Hope that helps!

Yep! Same thought process I had too. Plus if you ever want to track or auto cross the car, the C55 will be a much better fit!

+CoolKid Benz Hmmmm I don't know too much about the C230 K's, but I know some guys with C32 AMGs (which is a supercharged V6) do an ECU tune/remap and a supercharger pulley upgrade. Look into Eurocharged Performance, they might have an ECU upgrade for the C230 K's. Then you could possibly look at a smaller supercharger pulley, a lot of guys with the 55 Kompressor AMG's like the E55, SL55, and so on get smaller pulleys and it ups the horsepower buy a fair amount. For sound upgrades, try getting the resonator and secondary cats deleted, that should help for some sound. Other than that, I recommend checking out the forums, either Benzworld.org or Mbworld.org and try to find a thread for C230 upgrades, I'm sure there's a thread like that out there. I hope that helps!

How would you compare the c55 to the E55?

C55 is a much smaller car. Less features than the E55, less power than the E55, and less tuning options than the E55 since the C55 is NA. But, I love the C55 for how simple of a car it is. No fancy airmatic suspension or other bells and whistles that are a hassle to repair if/when they go bad. Since the car is smaller and lighter than the E55, it is quite a bit more nimble and fun to drive IMO.

+Anthony Nguyen I got these from a buddy of mine off of his C55 track car. They normally go for around $1500-$1800 I believe and you just have to look online until you find some, try ebay and see what you find.

Nope! No CELs or anything since I still have my primary cats. If you are doing longtube headers then yes, more than likely you'll need to retune after they're installed

I did short tube headers and straight piped the secondary cats and resonator, mufflers and every thing else from the stock exhaust stayed on.

***** Yep, that's a radar detector. It's a Cobra brand detector, not really sure of the model because I don't really see a model name on it. It's just a cheap one I got off craigslist so it does send a lot of false alarms. Yea I could do a video on it and maybe just discuss what you should look for when buying a radar detector. I want to get a better one, but haven't been willing to cough up $300+ for a good one. Sorry for the late response, somehow I didn't see the notification for your comment and just came across it today while browsing through my videos.

Both are very good brands, and I've heard great things about both brands. When I end up getting another one, I think I'll go with a Valentine One because I think they have a few more features than the Passports (depending on which one you get). Valentine One has a pretty cool app that you can connect your detector to your phone. Passport may have some features that V1s don't, I just haven't looked too closely at the Passports.

+Bullsnation very easy swap. They actually made a very limited run of w202 C55's in Europe, so the engine bolts right up.

You don´t have to do this. The 4.3l V8 has the same block as the 5.5l and the 6.3l! So if you swap the 5.5 in with 60hp hore, its just useless. Because you can just tune the 4.3 up to 6.3 and get 550hp out of the N/A-engine!

Can't remember the exact size off the top of my head, but the tubing was slightly bigger than stock so the straight sections that were replaced could slide over the stock tubing, rather than inside the stock tubing and possibly create more backpressure.

About 5 - 6 hours in labor, I would've done it myself but it's a pain to try and do without a lift haha. Renntechs are really good but they are pricey unless you can find a good deal on some. Eurocharged makes some good ones and so does MBH.

While I was looking to buy mine a few years ago one of the owners of the cars I went to test drive told me how to launch the car, what a blast that was.I'm not in the market for another one but if any of my friends turn out to be I'll refer them to you!

Well it's not a fancy setup procedure like a GT-R or Lamborghini lol, but you turn the traction control all the way off until an orange triangle is illuminated on the dash by pushing the ESP off button. Put your left foot on the brake, and build the revs up to about 2,500 with your right foot. Release the brake and give it the beans. Although, I was told to not mash the throttle immediately out of the gate because you'll get tons of wheel spin (which is very true especially with the TCS off), instead of just instantly mashing the gas you kind of have to quickly "squeeze" into it. After awhile you'll get the feeling for how much throttle to apply from a dead stop to minimize wheel spin and maximize launch times.

Hnat Automotive Photography You ever run into moon roof problems? This one is not opening all the way with the button, you have to repeatedly press it, but when closing it you hold it down and it closes no problem

+Hnat Automotive Photography you delete the resonator and catalyzer: not legal

+meschio 1. Resonator not needed to pass California emissions, it is strictly there to deaden the sound. 2. This car has 2 sets of catalytic converters. A primary and secondary set, I took off the secondary set, which are not needed to pass smog, again they are there to mostly quiet the sound. I still have the primary cats, so I am still well within the legal emissions that California requires. Please do some research before you call someone out on whether they performed "illegal" modifications or not
