Hi Ginny! Good news. I was able to get my pending claims resolved. Here's how: First, I finally got through to the 833-978-2511 #. This line is the newly established helpline open from 8 am to 8 pm...so I waited until 6:30 pm to call assuming most people have given up after business hours. It took about 10 trys, but if you press #1 for English and then #0 immediately after, you can just try over and over until you reach the hold line. I was on hold for about 30 minutes before getting through. It turns out all of my claims that were pending were due to a disability claim the computer recognized from 12 years ago that put it in pending status. The rep had to manually go in and correct everything to process 7 weeks of pending claims. I did not get any responses when emailing through "contact us" on the UI portal. I highly suggest if claims are pending for 10 days or more, to continue trying to get through on the 833 # for resolution. Best of luck to everyone out there!

My claim took 10 weeks before it was processed, but, it was because I was FINALLY able to reach an rep who pulled up my account and processed my claim on the spot. After failing for weeks to reach a rep, all I can say is, you HAVE to start calling a couple min before 8a and don't stop until like 10 min after. By then it's game over.

IF YOU NEVER RECEIVED A CUSTOMER ACCOUNT NUMBER, OR FORGOT / LOST IT.... I just found this tonight and allowed me to feel like I can actually contact someone at EDD ... 1) Go to ASKEDD.EDD.CA.GOV 2) Click on CATEGORY, and select UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE BENEFITS 3) Click on SUB CATEGORY and select UI ONLINE. 4) Click on TOPIC and select EDD CUSTOMER ACCOUNT NUMBER. 5) Select CONTINUE at the bottom of the page to begin submitting your request!

My question is: When do I become "re-employed" and stop getting PUA benefits? Hear me out. I'm a sole prop who laid off 5 employees on March 19th, the day of the stay-at-home order. We're closed, and I will rehire when the stay-at-home order is lifted. Also, my PPP is approved and I'll sign final documents on 5/12. So... * When I receive PPP funds, am I employed? (Bear in mind, as a sole prop I'm not on regular payroll. Also bear in mind I do not intend to pay people to sit at home, so I may not get the whole loan forgiven.) * When I first pay myself, am I employed? (Bear in mind I may pay myself from the business account even when it's not making money, because I may simply have to..) * When the stay-at-home order is lifted for my industry, and I employed? * When we start to OFFER services, am I employed? (Bear in mind, 98% of my business is closed, but we offer a $10 online course and about 15 people have bought it in the last month, so in that respect "we're already open" but it's certainly not profitable.) * When we make our first "real" sale, am I employed? * When my business becomes profitable, am I employed? * Is it a combination of any or all of the above? Has EDD even figured out what defines a small business owner "becoming re-employed" to mark the end his or her PUA benefits?

That's OK I just have to wait on the determination letter. Hope it will be this week. Another video said once I have a confirmation number I don't have to re apply. For whatever reason, you think you are eligible or not eligible or confused because you have a unique situation among the rest, just file,, Have UI employees figure out for you if you qualify..they will tell you by mail or email whatever is the result..just answer the question truthfully

In your "How to file" video (at 21:34) you clicked "Yes" on line 7 where it asked if you are currently self-employed and entered a description of your business. However, on this video notes section, you wrote: "on the Availability Information page, answer question 7 with No." How should it be answered - yes I have a business or no? It's even more confusing because they evidently changed the question from when you made the video. It had included the phrase "If you are impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, click No." but they have since removed that from the application form but left it on the "Help" pop-up box. I submitted my application last night. But I am concerned that I might have messed-up by clicking yes and including a description. Do I need to change that somehow? Thanks again!!!

Hello! I received $0 benefit after applying for UI. I just filed for PUA. However, the UI Online Mobile still did not get updated and still show as $0. Is there anything wrong?

Can you please answer my question. I am mostly 1099 and small w2 wage. I put my w2 job as my last employer even I just earned 700$ from w2 for 2 weeks, i saw nowhere to put my 1099 income so I put my 1099 income in the part “add employer” that I shouldn’t because it is designed for w2 wage. Will this make EDD confused? Can they know I make a mistake when I put my 1099 income in the w2 section. Thank you

Hi Ginny you just responded to my question about workers with insufficient work history your answer was.did you look into ppl maybe you misunderstood my question I am not self employed. I worked for Ups for 1 month in 2019 that is all the work I did I am on ssi but do some work here and there, I was about to do some work for.my sister at her.hair salon when the pandemic hit so I feel I qualify based on the cares act saying people with limited history are eligible. that is why I asked if you know what there determination of that is because there is nothing in the cares act saying the states have discretion to define that person.

Hi Ginny, so if it says paid in the payment history does that mean the PUA app was approved? My husband was able to login today and finally now can see his weekly amount and claim amount for PUA and he did certify for the weeks available. No mail received yet but did get txts about mail coming.

Hi Ginny - I have already received two payments for the first two weeks for my new PUA claim. I was set to certify for two more weeks this coming Sunday. However, I noticed on my UI page tonight that I have been disqualified for the first two weeks that they already paid me for. I don't know what I did wrong. Did I fill my form out wrong or what? I was set to start another job way back in March but it ended because of COVID. Is this common with new PUA cases?

We don't have a EDD form in GA as you do in CA. I just have to wait for the determination letter in the mail. I cannot clarify for the first two weeks of my PUA claims either. When going on the link for PUA all I can do is claim for the week that ends on a Saturday and that's it. It doesn't have anything about inquiring for any previous weeks as regular UI claims. Thought I let you know.

Last week I got a letter a letter of Determination saying I do not qualify for PUA ( with no date on the letter,) including an appeal form. Today a week later 8/6/20 I get an AWARD letter with the exact amounts you said in your video. This is so confusing. I so hope you know of this dilemma and which letter is correct and what I should do? THANKS SO MUCH!

After applying 05/27/2021 , it said on page that we finished process your application 05/27/2021 but when I click on register or manage existing claim , it takes to page they ask for edd account number so I want to know what’s going on please

I also ordered a new EDD debit card from BofA, on June 4th (my old one was fm 2013). NOW, waiting for the card - and waiting for the letter w/ my on-line Pin#. Unable to reach a live person. SHOULD I GIVE ALL OF THIS 3 full weeks?

GINNY, have a question about the 1099 G form. I have heard it is better to have taxes withheld on UI which has happened; however, I would also like to have taxes withheld on the $600 PUA insurance when paid as I seem to be hearing that if you wait until the end of the year, you will be penalized. I also don't want to bother with quarterly payments. What do I have to do to have this done for each payment period? Thanks.

Hi Ginny, I applied UI online 4/10 and received letters from EDD with $0 wage and no customer account number. My co-workers applied the same time and they all received letters with the weekly amount. A week later their debit cards arrived in the mail. I’ve been calling/emailed but no luck. What should I do?

Recently my employer asked if I wanted to return to work and I said 'yes' however only for 1/3 of the hours and pay I had before all this started because of the impact of covid 19. Hi Ginny thanks for all the info . I’m in the same situation as you . I’m a self employed and this week I received eidl , I also applied for UI and said no benefits were available for my claim $0 . Now I applied for eidl and UI April 3 and 4 . Since I didn’t receive anything from UI I decided to apply for ppp on 4/22 and today I received a message from BoA letting me know I just need to sign the attestation form and promissory note and they’ll approve me . My question is since I didn’t received anything from UI should I accept ppp and go through with it or should I file again with PUa (UI) like you did and get accepted and not go through w ppp because I’ve heard you can either get UI or PPP . Have a question i got PUI since march 29 2020 and as we all know that ended december 26th and i took your advice and didnt file new claim like was being messaged then UI updated and told us not to open new cain if UI finally well my year ended 12-31 20! so today i look on my UI cause they were down last night and figured was doing an update and they were so now they say I have to reopen claim and not sure if that right and my benefit year date now shows to 4-10-21 now is it right choice to reopen the caim ?? lots of confusion and they dont make it clear you do awesome job at making more clear than they do ! I applied online for PUA on May 2nd. I followed your video instructions and received my Confirmation Number. It has now been 11 days and I haven’t received any mail (letters) or email from the EDD. When I login it takes me to “UI Online Registration - New Account” and asks me for my EDD Account Number, which I don’t have. I’ve watched your terrific videos (and subscribed) so I guess they haven’t processed my claim application yet. I’m thinking there could be three problems that are holding things up. On the “Additional Information” screen question 7 I think I answered “Yes”, per what you showed in your video. But the question says to answer “No” if I’m impacted by COVID-19. Another problem is I reported my income from my 2018 tax returns because I hadn’t yet filed for 2019. The third possible problem is that they ask for a physical address and I think I may have given my private mailbox address. I live and travel to work full time in an RV, and my only address is a private mailbox. It’s the same address that’s on my driver’s license, my tax returns, my Social Security, my bank accounts, everything. I’ve tried repeatedly to talk to an actual person at EDD about my situation, but they aren’t accepting calls. Any suggestions?
