Robert Durst stands trial for the 2000 murder of friend Susan Berman. The trial began just before the pandemic in early 2020 and was halted two weeks in. The restart happened on May 17, 2021, with the same jury panel.
The defendant’s wife Kathleen McCormack Durst went missing in 1982. Evidence and testimony would show that Robert Durst killed her, the prosecutor said. The defendant allegedly told Berman it was an accident and asked her for help. She served as his alibi.
Berman, 55, was shot execution-style at her Beverly Hills home in 2000, and the prosecution suggested that it was because of what she knew about Kathleen’s death and disappearance. As defense lawyer Dick DeGuerin would have it, however, Durst is innocent. His client only came across the body, panicked, and fled, he maintained.

Lewin is just brilliant at catching out liars! Giordano is so not credible in anything she says. Her body language just speaks for itself. I find it impossible to believe that somebody could be best friends with somebody and never ask anything about what they think happened to their missing wife? That's just crazy!

That’s what the prosecutors in Galveston did, so probably. Durst’s attorneys thought they’d coast on what they did in TX. They were not in any way prepared for how absolutely brutally thorough Lewin is.

Lewin noticed Durst's urine bag was full and offered to change it for him and he did. Not only a great attorney but a great human being.

He is an EXPERT in case law and he is beyond prepared. If he says “did you say this” then you’d best believe he’s prepared to prove it. I will never understand the people who think that’s a problem. I would want him as the lawyer to go after someone who hurt my family.

Her brain is fried. That’s what happens when you do drugs. I also believe she also used Durst for money and tried to play the middle man, not knowing that she would get caught up in it. Now in front of Durst she doesn’t want to say anything that will make Durst cut her off.

Lewin was told earlier to stand at the podium. He is again pacing back and forth. Why is the judge not saying anything?

Because he is still outside the well and is still able to be heard. He very clearly has some level of disability (I don’t mean that disparagingly - we know he has hearing problems and had to wear a catheter in court for a week, and there’s a reason he was given permission to remove his jacket) so I suspect he needs the movement and the court is being accommodating.

They are not familiar with CA law. They woefully underprepared, thinking they could boast on it like they did with the incompetent prosecutors in TX. They weren’t remotely ready for Lewin. And they are, frankly, really old. I don’t think DeGuerin has all his faculties intact.
