And if there’s one country that’s most poignant in their sound, it’s Cape Verde. The small archipel on the West African coast was used as a tradingstop towards the United States during slavery. This gave the country a unique mixed culture in which a dozen of unique music genres emerged. From Funana to Morna to Coladeira. And all those influences are finding their way into the modern Dutch hiphop.
