Thank you for making and sharing these video's. I have a few questions, for anyone that may be able to refer me to any helpful sources to these issue's, id be very grateful. (I am currently in the process of transitioning back into solidworks, after 10 years of working in autodesk inventor pro + vault pro which is not as easy as i hoped)... This video shows a good example of the problem i'm encountering, and it appears to happen in all the tutorial video's i have seen so far. Up to the 9:00 mark everything is fine, but then the brackets for the staircase steps are created using a single sketch, made in the assembly, to be extruded in context of the construction, and finally mirrored to the other side. In the real world, this is unrealistic. If making this type of walkway is part of a company's regular business there will almost certainly be a predefined "standard" bracket for this step profile material. (either an industry standard or a company standard). Most likely, the entire step with side flanges would actually be something standard, meaning they already exist as parts/assy's or better yet, in the company library or PDM system. The same would go for things like endcaps on handles, standard brackets, footplates for various set feet or wheels, etc, - that already are on shelf and already in the system under a certain set of custom properties (such as partnumber/description/stock location/price/supplier/etc.) My question is: How do we make use of the weldment environment (for easy generating af the profile members) while maintaining the purpose of standardized parts such as purchased parts (downloaded content), library parts (company standard items that already have appropriate ERP data linked to the properties). In other words, my main objective is to end up with a model that utilizes the skeleton modeling/editing features from "weldments" thus creating "cutlist items" but in combination with normal parts, third party files, standardized library parts, etc..- to show up in a drawing of the welded construction as 1 complete and correct Bill of materials for manufacturing?
@nokosnoox6 жыл бұрын
Don't know if you still need this, but it sounds like you just need to insert your (company) profiles into Solidworks. Look it up, "How to add custom profiles to weldments". For the other standardised parts, just insert them into the assembly like any other part.
@amantripathi22112 жыл бұрын
@@nokosnoox i was about to write the same. I don't know about any proper way to do it but i generally insert those standard parts in assembly and accordingly edit other there :)
