Not to burst your bubble, but you make it sound like orchestra members are failed soloists, which couldn’t be farther from the truth. Musicians auditioning for orchestras consciously go into the profession, and getting to the point of even qualifying to audition, they would‘ve had to have already proven their virtuosity through pieces like this (or through even harder ones)

He didn't mean it literally. It's a metaphor, a way of praising the special gift in the boy. Of course as a professionally trained musician, he knows his expertise & it's limitations.😇

Comme le dit un autre commentateur ici, même appartenant à des orchestres de top niveau, les musiciens d'orchestre n'ont pour la plupart (sinon à peu près tous) pas les qualités requises d'un soliste. Ce sont de bons musiciens, mais pas des virtuoses. Réflichissez donc avant de reprocher quelqu'un de faire un commentaire stupide (et d'en faire un soi-même).

You should listen to Kavakos’ performance of the Sauret cadenza. In my opinion, this isn’t in-line with the style of Paganini.

@spliefdagrief Teo's got his own style. While respecting the score, he plays with his heart adding freshness and sentiments to the (old) score. Nobody should play "in the style of..." 😊

Solid technique and gorgeous intonation. I think Teo already understands that clear sound enables the listeners to hear and savor every note. So many of the kids play at full speed and get encouraged as if speed is a virtue....which it is and is often enjoyed by the performer...but often with the loss of the listeners attention. Another player for the people.😊

Teo, dear dear Teo, you make music out of it, rather than it being "entertainment." It ennobles why the art exists beyond commodities or celebrity. God bless you.... And it's ageless. So, please blossom, but don't grow up and "mature." The wood from a Del Gesu didn't come from them cutting it down, it came from a seed. Without the seed, there would be no violin. And Bravo!
