I will be opening up a brand new Acer Aspire 5 A515 series laptop to upgrade memory, upgrade NVMe SSD, install 2.5" SATA SSD and also switching out of Windows 10 S Mode. Model# A515-55-35SE

Dale, I got an Acer Aspire 5 for my Wife. I had the parts laying around. So after watching you do this many times, I decided to try it myself. The RAM showed instantly. The SATA drive also showed instantly under "This PC." (it was already formatted). That was a nice surprise. I just gave it a name. She will be happily surprised, I'm sure. Many thanks. My wife is looking at an Acer Aspire on sale nearby. Upgrading parts by myself seems very doable, thanks to this video. I have an Acer Predator. I upgraded the RAM and drives myself in that laptop. Good video. (You did a video on the Acer Predator, too, Didn't you?) Good information. Cheers!

Love you videos just 1 thing that may help a little is you should start to open the case from the right hand back closer to the hinge. This is what I saw on a Acer av15-51-54 on the Acer Web page. Your way works just as well. Thanks for the great tutorials. 👍

I just purchased an Acer Aspire A515 - 46-R14K I have already upgraded the RAM and followed your video for the install, but I would welcome your suggestions as to which HDD would be best for this machine. I was hoping to add a 1Tb drive. Any suggestions you might have would be very welcomed. Thank you in advance

Hi. You can add a 1tb sata 2.5 inch ssd in the empty bay, or you can upgrade the m.e nvme ssd to 1tb as well. I use samsung and crucial drives mostly. There are many choices if course. Thx

I just purchased an Aspire a515-46-r1k from Amazon, and went to install a 2.5 sata drive but the caddy bracket and ribbon cable were missing. I've contacted the seller multiple times but they keep giving me the run around. I really don't want to return the computer since I've already installed a lot of my programs since then. Do you know if anyone sells these separately? I haven't been able to find them anywhere.

If you only add the RAM Upgrade (with open slot), and a 2.5 HDD, do you still need to go through the entire re-install of the programs?

No, the reason he had to reinstall Windows fresh is because he took out the NVME boot disc that was already installed. With the default boot disc removed, you need to create a new Windows install. If you just add RAM and an extra HDD you would not need to reinstall Windows.

was about to ask the same question. So as long as I only install Hdd and ram i should be good to go yeah? I don't need to reinstall windows correct? Also can I ask if I install a 1tb hdd why would I need to install a larger ssd. What's the difference between the two? I know ssd is better I just don't know why. tia

Can I install SAMSUNG 970 EVO Plus SSD 2TB - M.2 NVMe Interface Internal Solid State Drive with V-NAND Technology (MZ-V7S2T0B/AM) in my ACER Aspire A515 43 r19l? Im using it for music production until I build one for my Recording studio. I am running out of storage in my laptop, and I want to add more storage to it for now. I already installed a 1TB hard drive and upgraded the memory.

It’s a restrictive Windows 10 version that locked the OS down.
