To understand how Caesar feels, just imagine that Eu4 event where you have to pay a bunch of money to keep your colony from regressing.

Caesar gets all his money back though and then some though, is this the case in Eu4?

Elevated land can be so annoying, but well designed elevated land makes for fantastic puzzling.

To answer a question posed towards the start of the vod, yes many of us do not play caesar 3 (like myself) and appreciate it immensely when Jake actually articulates in clear terms how and what makes a map difficult

It was a treat to watch Jake start with decent initial money and not go through the disposable tent slum for the first hour. Especially since most of the run was spent on a very tight budget anyway thanks to the difficulty of the map itself. Great map visually as well. Also, Jake, hope you find that pain map save for next time, I would love to see how it was beaten.

I've been itching to start making a map for you, but Attelwyn has set the bar sky high. What a cool map. I love it when all space is used in a map, and apart from a few bits that are blocked off by farms or reservior, your city fills all the space.

The audio clip of Caesar getting mad at being called 'Toga Boy' never gets old

Such a beautiful map. Also can't stop laughing every time Jake says he is "watering" the plebs. Such lemmings. :D

So, do wells provide a lower "level" of water to houses? is there a benefit to using fountains besides their greater range?
@DDRJake
@DDRJake Жыл бұрын
There is a big difference. Wells are cheap, work anywhere and require no labour, but they lower the desirability around them and can only evolve a house up to Large Shack. To grow them into Hovels any beyond, you need a fountain. Fountains are more expensive, require 4 labour each and can only function when there is a nearby reservoir, but will evolve a house to any level and has a longer range than a well.

Have you ever tried Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom? Or do you have the same distaste for it as Pharoah?

I have played all of the Impressions Citybuilders, and Caesar is the only one that "clicked" for me. Emperor was close, it was quite good mechanically, but I did not enjoy the tribute or feng shui features, and I did not have any love for the setting or visuals. Caesar III's Roman theming is just too good.

@@DDRJake The Feng Shui mechanic definitely felt iffy. Restricted city building too much to an arbitrary mechanic.

Rectangular Brazil does not have a lot of appeal to me, especially compared to Hungary.
